What did you do to your bike today?

Dealers offered me around 1850 for my duke, I sold it for nearly 2500, bought it for around 2k. I still made profit, so I'm not fussed about the alternator going.

Just hold on till spring/summer Clovis, you'll loose now.

Nah I'm not waiting that long, I've had an offer through eBay asking if I'll close the auction early for £2300 cash and they'll collect Saturday, only problem being, if they decide they don't want it when they turn up, I'll kick off lol..

Just cleaned, in the dark (with my battery flood light). Tipped it down on the way home this evening and roads are pretty dirty so thought I may as well. Did a pretty good job actually, not my usual proper clean but good enough to get the bike through the week without looking too bad.

I've been spraying after every wet ride/clean with FS365 recently. Thought I may as well start using it as I got a bottle for free a while back.

Seems to be pretty good, but then I have no idea yet really. I guess the idea is to never find out if the bike would rust without FS365/ACF50!

Haha, rather you than me - this is why I could never ride something nice through winter. Sod coming home at gone 6pm and then having to wash the bike in the dark!

You just know as soon as you've done 50 miles again it's gonna be filthy. Get yourself a winter hack and enjoy the luxury of washing it every 6 months... if it's lucky :D

gotta be over a month ago atleast since I washed mine

the fasteners soon start to corrode, depends on the bike tbf, some don't some do

I've been meaning to get my Hornet legal again. It needs a few bits and pieces (and a better exhaust), so then I'd have a winter hack, but think I'd miss using my Speed Triple too much. Don't really want to be paying the amount I pay every month and not use it through winter so I'll just put up with it! I don't mind really, I find it quite relaxing/enjoyable cleaning it as it's so different from what I normally do day to day plus I have decent cloths, sponges and potions which make the whole process more enjoyable and rewarding.

I'm obviously far more lazy than you :D Mind you if your commute isn't very far then it wouldn't be than much work to keep it clean. Salt is the biggest enemy though, although (fingers crossed) they haven't needed to salt the roads yet here, not even when it was sub-zero overnight the other day.

Although there's something good about riding a lower powered bike normally and the 'weekend' bike every so often, you re-experience the power every time :D Similar to years ago when I drove a 3.5t van during the day, when I jumped back in my 1.3l classic mini it felt like a rocket ship for the first 2 miles :D

You mentioned a high monthly payment, which I would be surprised was just insurance.

Ah, nah, the insurance actually isn't bad at all and I pay that yearly so don't really 'feel' it come out once I get over my initial annoyance of having to pay the insurance company :p

Compared to a half decent car, even the monthly finance payment isn't bad at all.

At 0% interest it's no different to putting the money away each month to buy it, apart from you get at the start not once you've put away the money!

The PCP, deposit then 3 years payments then either pay the rest or give it back deals are pretty good, I mean a Ducati Panigale 899 is £3k deposit and £136 a month - which lets face it, isn't a huge amount.

I'm doing it the other way, putting away the money each month until I have enough to buy something outright.

That's what I do, otherwise you have to be the poor sod that buys it new and takes a massive hit the second you start the engine.

When the new Yamaha MT-10's are a year old I'll be grabbing one!

Yup, I was going to buy cash, but 0% came up (with £1100 of extras) and I was sorted :D. Much better than blowing a chunk of money which can earn interest etc.

True, but you can't beat having them from day one. Breaking in, then getting to open it up, looking after it how you want to look after it from day one, etc. - buying new was well worth the hit I took rolling it out of the show room and I'd do it again in an instant! :D

I'm absolutely obsessed with my chain now, I think I touch it 2 or 3 times a day, I've gone mad. I'm gonna end up with some weird skin condition I'm sure.:)

Agreed although You shouldn't have to wait that long, I've got my heart set on the new Versys or CBR650F and like my old Tricity I've seen crazy deals on ex-demo ones or pre-registered ones. There's also the odd chap who bought one new and is giving it up after doing less than 1000 miles for way less than he paid.

I reckon the MT-10 will have a waiting list for the first 6 months, if they get the price right. I mean it's a naked R1 basically, and it's likely to be under £10k! A waiting list will keep used bike prices high for the first 6-12 months.
