What did you do to your bike today?

Obviously, I wouldn't be able to measure it. I'd probably be on my back if I tried. A quick Google seems to show mixed reports. Here says 2.8, but I see a few others say 3.3.

The first time I rode one, I couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground. I think I must have grown up now, as it's not a problem :)

Also, I'm not sure why you're saying its not full power? I'm told it will get to 100 quicker than a Fireblade? (Again, not able to test this myself)

Blade is about 160ish bhp . cb1000r is about 115 ish . the power was moved down the rev range and rev limit was lowered .
It maintains the torque because of capacity but has lost about 50 bhp which is a fair chunk .

It has much lower gearing than the blade so hence the slightly quicker dash to 80 but once the top end power and aerodynamics came into the blade will kill it .
Most nakeds give supersport bikes a hard time in town 0-80 type riding due to the power being moved lower down and lower gearing allowing more acceleration but less top speed .

lol which part of my post was me being defensive ?

I don't think I was aiming that directly at you (or didn't mean to) just on the general reaction from the forum to my question. Again, as I was saying above, was actually curious, not trying to wind anyone up.

The more torque you have lower down the rev range the better, you can really fire it off the line or out of the corner, lack of top end bhp on a naked is neither here nor there tbh, i'm into naked bikes & i know full well my neck muscles are gonna give up the ghost long before i hit top whack, so i'll take a big dollop of torque any day.

This is my feeling too.

Again, this is roughly my understanding too and I guess it's how we see 'power' that maybe I disagree with.

I would think I spend 99% of my time under 80mph, so I'm happy that's where all my 'power' is. If I was on track, it would be different, or even on a long distance journey... but that's when you get a second different bike, which was kind of my point right back at the beginning. It would be a bit odd (to me) if I bought a second bike, also a naked as most of the characteristics would be the same.

So yes Persil, I understand why it might be a second bike for you, maybe you spend time on open roads. I tend not too. But this is why many people have two bikes, to cover 'flaws' in their first bike.

How are you finding it mate? i remember my first week being terrifying haha.

Nice bike by the way! I always found these nice however I sat on one and looked a complete tit.

I've loved it so far! I was unable to ride it for the first couple of days due to snow though.

Then the day when I was actually able to go on it, it started to make some funny noise and when I took it to the dealership it was absolutey fine and has been since.

I'm only around 5ft 5" so I don't look like a tit when i ride. Just more worried about how i'm going to fit on a larger sized bike when I do decide to get one! :D

Finally sold my zx6r, had fairing damage and developed an oil leak so had to let it go for a bit less than i wanted, but it was a nice quick/easy sale.
i keep telling myself i'm not getting another bike while i'm jobless but i'm already wanting another.

5'5" here with a 27" leg  I manage fine on most bikes, but I did have to get the DRZ lowered :p

I have this problem too. I am around 5ft7 but my legs are I think possibly under 27".

I haven't bought my first bike yet but I remember when I took my tests on a cg125 (I think) I struggled lol. Hoping i'll be able to manage a sv650 or similar when I finally get my first bike.

Edit: Just measured legs, dead on 27inch. :(

Some may remember that I sold this last year...

Well a few weeks ago something came up on my radar for what I'd consider daylight robbery!

'87 Kawasaki KMX125, because I love my strokers! :) Bought as a non-runner, replaced the battery, cleared the full system, stripped the carb and set it up correctly and it's running a good'n now!

Done a fair bit of work on it, mostly small things that add up. Hoping it will be on the road in a week or so after new sprockets and chain arrives.

After buying this one, research seems to show they're quite few and far between these days unfortunately.

Very few complete bikes, and used spares are scarce!

The SV650 is mega low, so low that it used to cramp my hips on long journeys (31" leg), so should be perfect for the shorter legged rider :p

I don't think they are particularly low to be honest, there are plenty of people on sv650.org who need cut own seats and lowering kits on the suspension! The K3 needs to be avoided for the short of leg as well, they were higher than all the others.

I think the comfort issue is more down to the placement of the pegs, a tall friend that I used to work with had comfort problems that he fixed by fitting pegs from a Buell that are cranked to lower them by about an inch.

Easy mistake to make.
Keep your eyes open for a NS125R or an NSR125, Make sure you get an Italian one or a UK one. ;)
Untold spares available & off the shelf heads/barrels/rings & the like.

Thankfully I've sourced a company who supplies pistons/rings etc. It's things like fuel filler caps and hoses that are hard to come by.

Maybe it's because I'm coming from an rs125 where you can build a whole new bike from parts bought from pjme lol.

There isn't much info on the internet about them either, but I sorted that out by buying a Kawasaki workshop manual from a similar era. Should be a time and effort saver!

My cg125 has recently been refusing to start. So today I cleaned out and reassembled the starter motor. Now all is well and I'm very pleased. No more trains for a while.

Nice job, I had a cg125 only kick start back then.

I had 2 in total friends also had them , paid £75 quid for my first :D

On Saturday I gave my bike a service. It took longer to get the fairings on/off than it did to do the actual service!

The only job remaining now is to get my new rear tyre fitted.

Sorry yes I should have said the curvy model, and even that has a wide seat which I think is what causes most of the height issues, cut some foam out :p
The K series also has a pretty high seat too, wish they wouldn't do that!

Yea the comfort is definitely down to the peg position, thanks for the info on the Buell pegs, I will give them a look, planning on having my old SV as a wet track day bike and winter hack so want to change the pegs.
