What did you do to your bike today?

I got up at 6:30 this morning with plans of doing a crazy long bike trip. I had jotted down a 200 mile journey, but looped back at around 50 miles, so did around 90 miles in total.

125's are a lot of fun around a city, their power is perfect for such stop-start trips. Once you get out into the country, their lack of power becomes apparent very quickly. Down hill I could hit 70, but on some of the inclined roads saw my speed drop to sub 50, and that was thrashing it.

I had a lot of fun, and it's the longest I've ridden by far in one sitting. but it made me realise I need to get my DAS passed asap if I want to do more journeys like that.

On a positive, the Sena 10u and tomtom rider 400 worked fantastically well. Although the sena really needs to be controlled by the handle bar attachment with gloves on, as the helmet buttons become too fiddly to press.

Sunny but cold In Manchester today

Spent a few hours washing/polish/waxing the hornet,

Getting the fork seals done on Tuesday

Got some riding in this morning while the weather was good. Then came back and did some tinkering.

Took the stickers off the front of the bike. I first started with a Stanley blade but realized I should be using a hair dryer. Once I used the hair dryer it became a lot easier....

Then it was only the glue I had to clear up. After a few tests with nail polish removed etc I found that petrol is the best to break down the glue and get it off.

Could you let me know how much you pay, please? I need to get my Hornets ones done but not sure how much I should expect to pay

In Manchester, prices vary a lot, 2 places quoted me £60 all Inc for both front seals and new oil. Another place quoted me £160.

finally got round to fitting my pads

the winters sure do wreak havoc on your brakes, all the sliding pins were rusted up,not a sign of grease anywhere

@ mowy does look better,id be tempted to sand and spray the forks in aluminium coloured paint next and maybe plastic weld that crack on the mudguard?

Yeah I was wondering what to do with them. Just not sure how much effort I'm going to put into it as I'm not sure how long I'll be keeping her.

Saying that I'm in the process of buying a house so I doubt I'll have cash to upgrade for a bit!

Which were they out of interest?

I no longer travel in to the city so need to find somewhere else I think.

More fireblade fork conversion for me. It's fair to say I've changed my mind a few times as I was going to use the 929 forks, but they are designed for huge 330mm discs so I'd either have needed to find an SP1 front wheel (hard to find by themselves, and expensive) and a set of 929 discs, or have a custom 330mm disc made to fit my VFR800 wheel (also ££££).

I remembered the years ago I picked up a set of tidy GSX-R750 K6 forks when I had my SV650 as I was going to put a set of USDs on it, so thought about using them. However they didn't fit the lower yoke (53mm forks, 54mm yoke) so I made a set of 0.5mm shims. Then I measured up and found the forks were too long, and the shape of the uppers made it impossible to slide them up through the yokes (the diameter narrows down immediately below the clip-ons).

Then I spotted a set of GSX-R1000 K2 forks on eBay which are ordinarily nothing special but these have a full K-Tech valve and adjuster upgrade and they were an absolute steal. My Fireblade calipers bolt right on, and they are the correct length. After many hours spent making accurate spacers to get the discs centered on the calipers, and modifying the wheel to allow the larger diameter bearing spacer, I'm finally getting close.

Need to tidy up the paint on the wheel next, it's not bad but has a few chips and a small patch where the paint has lifted.

I've been riding for 9 years, I have the experience... just not the balls lol

30mph steadily accelerating, slip clutch and up it comes 6"+ then ride it with throttle.... scary so far lol
