What did you do to your bike today?

I believe it was supposed to rain today. But it had glorious skies so i decided to ride in. I've not had any experiences with bad drivers just yet, but i know it's coming

Commute for long enough and drivers doing (fairly minor) stupid stuff is common.

This morning for example - half a mile from my house, line of traffic at lights for a crossroads, which splits into 2 lanes (right lane for turning right across the road), I'm filtering past the line of traffic to turn right (which I do every single morning), old guy doesn't bother indicating or using his mirrors to change into the right lane whilst I'm alongside his rear quarter. A quick rev bomb and he's soon aware I'm there. Not a big deal, because I expect it to happen.

Then later on, roundabout, 2 lanes, left lane going straight, right lane turning right. Me in right lane, other car in left lane, then partly right lane, then left lane. Straight lines the the roundabout, another old guy. Due to his lack of sticking to his lane, I didn't go alongside him, so again no big deal. Another rev to let him know I'm there in case he does anything more stupid.

This is a normal daily(ish) thing, so long as you're expecting this sort of thing you'll be fine. Commute for a while and you'll soon see the standard of driving by some people is laughable!

You'll also soon get to know the places where people change lanes, or pull out of side roads between traffic, or straight line roundabouts, so know where you can and can't filter, and where you have enough room to overtake.

I'd say in nearly 20k miles of riding so far I've had 1 instance of someone actually pulling out on me - I knew it was going to happen though as the white van turning left in front of me blocked her view, so she pulled out to turn right across my path. Gave her a proper look (think I was on my varadero) and got on with my commute, no big deal. Plus a few like the above, people changing lanes, or pulling out on roundabouts a bit too eager (that and straight lining roundabouts are my biggest hates, apart from mobile phone users - why people can't wait until we're actually past them before pulling out!! Oh and creepers. Don't sodding creep!!).

So yeah, touch wood, no big moments (apart from the 2 that were my/the bikes fault :p).

New R6 was very quiet, Talked to the guys at REPS, who made me an offer on a Full Leo Vince System off their Manx TT race bike.

Chuffed to bits with it, incredible sound, stock bike produced 108RWHP, after fitting it's now on 116 so very healthy gain too in power, booked in for next week for a reflash, remove the throttle restrictions, get to top injectors on 100% and a few other tweaks.

Still need to swap over the Race unit but it's getting there.

Finished a few jobs this week on the hornet

1. Renthal bars (ultra low)
2. Oil and oil filter change
3. Generator / Stator cover replaced and new seal
4. Front caliper clean up (pistons etc), then new brake fluid change to castrol dot 4
5. Rear brake fluid change
6. New Tank pad fitted
7. New seat cover arrived (standard black one)

What's left to do...
Await R&G bar ends to arrive in post
Await staple gun to arrive in post so can recover the seat

Still undecided if I should get braided lines

Some bikes are a right pain in the arse you've got to take plastics off just to get to the bolts but most it's a simple case of 2 minutes with a spanner. Be aware if you've got a pilly seat and no pegs you'll fail an mot. Fine if you change the seat for a cowl though.

What do you guys think about keeping a disk lock looped through the pillion foot peg rather than having to take my seat off every time i want it?
