What did you do to your bike today?

shaken is right, adjust the other cable to suit now,you can also slide the whole throttle tube off the clipon and grease it up,makes a difference

Yer I think the cable is completely borked. Think one of the adjusters is broken and also it doesn't snap shut so its definitely catching somewhere.

Well there's your problem. Possibly a solution to why I was stuck at 60mph.

#4 piston vacuum needle thingy on the carb was stuck when I tried to slide it up. the fuel line and vacuum hose looked fine. No kinks or splits. Then I removed the carbs and opened #4 to see what the issue was ...

Check this out ...

The spring was just crushed inside there, all twisted up. Now how the hell does that happen? I have never touched the carbs. I'm sitting here trying to think if when I took the bike maybe 2 years ago for a service that they might have done it - but why. Of course the place is no longer in business. The only other time I've not had my bike is when it was inside my mates garage for winter, 2013 and 2014. I'm confused and slightly angry with what I found.

All cleaned ready to go back on tomorrow.

that's a nice clean sv

Very sexy looking SV, the only 2 things I would change on it would be tiny indicators and smaller plate. ;)

Thanks - first "real" bike and I'm really happy with it!

Both of those are on the list - already have a pair of short levers to go on too. What sized plate would you go for, and which indicators? I'm stuck for choice. Starting to sway towards the tiny arrow/spear shaped ones...

Took the YZ125 to the big forest near here, fell off once on the whoops which was kind of funny. So far.... 2nd time dirt biking and it's extremely difficult, seriously strenuous and completely different in every way to road riding.

I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

At the rear I'll go for inbuilt indicators into the tail lights.

On the sides at the front, I'll get ones like that

I was thinking of a certain way of mounting the plate, but I would most likely get stop for it... :(

BTW If you have the passenger holder thing that goes at the back, I would personally put it back on. It looks kind off empty without it...

Falling off is part of the fun! :D My granddads mechanic and his son rode cross bikes competitively. He was on a strict diet and training schedule. He rode like a maniac though :D

Edit

This is 'roughly' what I meant....

I doubt, I would get away with that though. :p

I hadn't even thought of the diaphragms! I had a mate bring his bike round moaning he couldn't get passed 60, i pulled the carbs off and found straight away a ripped diaphragm. I wouldn't pin blame on anyone, it can happen at anytime.

Just be aware the integrated unit will fail an MOT as the indicators interfere with the solid brake light, and also while those 2 options look cleaner they also massively reduce how clear your signalling is.

No one will know if you're braking while your rears are flashing and a lot of people will probably miss flush mount fronts as well.

Yeeeeeaaaah!

The weather was 15 degrees and sunny today so I took the bike out for the first time in months. It felt great, although random patches of snow-ice at the Gurnigel mountain pass was interesting.

.

Does this count for all bikes? my R6 appears to have the indicators integrated into the tail light.

depends on the mot man, whether he ignores it or fails it,you can just unplug the indicator part anyway so you just have rear stop/tail

look under the rear pillion seat, theres usually bullet connectors for the indicator part, just disconnect those and it'll pass mot, reconnect them later

I've just had another read through of what an MOT guy put on FB when someone asked on there and it's actually been changed to read along the lines of "As long as it's how the tail light is designed to work" then it'll pass so I suppose that's to cover dodgy wiring causing your indicators/brake light to go funny when both used at the same time but still pass integrated tail lights.

As with anything though as Wazza says it depends on how strict your MOT guy is and if he keeps up to date with changes.
