What did you do to your bike today?

Oh I won't be buying that one, it's overpriced to start with, and looking at the advert in more details - it hasn't even got the correct forged wheels!!! It's got a standard non-factory non-forged set of wheels, painted gold

I may have to point that out to the dealer :D Either they got a fast one pulled on them, or they're trying to pull fast one...

Wheels for these bikes are ridiculous, so many variations over the years and so many fakes around

I would be tempted by a forged OZ set but would need to know the owner and history as there not cheap and would hate to ripped off

Chris

Yeah for the Tuono's it was a bit easier I think, there were the early models with OZ wheels then later models with Malgatech, made to exactly the same design. '07's came with blue forged wheels and 08's and later came with gold forged wheel, I think Aprilia changed from OZ to Malgatech in '08 sometime.

I'm not fussed about OZ or Malgatech, but a factory shouldn't have standard non-forged wheels!

Did they ever do a factory V4?

Yep, with the 1100 v4 Tuono they're now making the 1100RR (standard model) and the 1100 factory.

Carbon, ohlins, RSV4 tail (which you can fir on the earlier model) but no forged wheels. 175bhp on the 1100 model too, as if the previous 1000 model didn't have enough power :p

The only 2 models in the older ones were the standard Tuono and the Tuono aprc . Only difference was the aprc had all the electronics (traction/wheelie/suspension etc )

And the quickshifter. You deffo want an APRC model over the standard one. They also made some changes to the 2014 model - different front calipers (that's the easiest way to tell), 1.5l bigger tank, and other changes.

i loved the aprc when i tested.. but 14k at the time was to much .. still fancy getting one but really like the new factory . Will stick with my 06 tuono and falco project atm till the new factorys come down in price then look at changing

Well after that ridiculous F1 Qualifying this morning, I got stuck into the steering bearing.

Had to get this tool in order to bash out the bottom race because it sat in a recess. Worked wonders.

It's taken me all day, hardest part was getting the race off the steering stem. Test ride tomorrow :)

Good lord those were knackered

And yeah the stem bearing is the hardest,I took mine to a bike mechanic to pull it/press a new one one, though I've used an angle grinder in the past and a very very steady hand

Yeah they were proper worn. Looks like they have never been done. I was eyeing up my angle grinder but I just knew it would end badly lol

That's going to feel like a new bike!

I hope so :D

Ended up dremeling one of my pad pins in half due to some spanners great design decision to have them going into blind holes on the front calipers, thankfully only one side was stuck the other came out with some plus gas and pliers.

New ones all fitted using titanium pad pins now but filled the blind holes with copper slip as well just in case, also discovered that the pad springs are different on each side but the seller sent me two of the same luckily my old ones were in decent condition so I've got one new and one old fitted.

Unfortunately they're pretty spongy at the lever even though I wasn't getting any more air from the nipples but I've cable tied the lever back so hopefully in the morning it'll be better.

You doing the fronts or the back?

My front was so spongy it was unreal. Ended up rebuilding the calipers with new seals and fresh grease and rebuilt the MC. Front brakes are really good now, can do 2 finger braking now :)
