What did you do to your bike today?

I'm not waiting weeks lol, I did say I'd order them myself and pay express delivery to have them delivered by Monday, I bet they've gone for economy delivery and yodel are in charge haha :(

Yodel is faster than DPD around my area, all orders so far have woken me up early in the morning (ordered day before). :p

BTW That's their excuse, they say they're waiting for the part... my mate had work experience where I left my bike, he said the part came in ages ago.

That's one of the reasons if I need a job doing by a garage for whatever reason I'll usually just take my own parts and get them to do the fitting.

Thought I'd check out the claim that Harpic max really brings up downpipes.

Here is the results:

After 2 scouring pads and 30 or so mins:

I have some very high temp paint coming so I'll spray it all up before I get it fitted

Really tempted to do that myself on my Hornet, but I don't think I can bear taking them off. The collar things at the top are completely rusted, guaranteed siezed bolts :( would look so good.

What paint are you using?

This stuff LINKY

Most vids I've seen are of people doing it while its on the bike. The bleach seems to lose its ability quite quickly so you use a fair bit. I probably used half a bottle.

Removing the head studs can be a massive ball ache especially if the thing snaps. It's going to cost me about £200 to get mine out

Some wire wool would have brought them up

Black painted pipes tend to corrode really fast,I was forever grinding the rust bubbles of my kmx exhaust and re spraying it,but its better then no paint at all I suppose

That's me decided. I'm not taking them off. Had enough of seized stuff costing me money on that Hornet.

I replaced the headers on the GS at the weekend. The bracket that held the end pipe was really rusty but I couidnt find a replacement so I put it in a vice and used the dremel on it with the wire brush attachment. 5 mins later it looked like new!

Yeah I don't want to have to replace the exhaust again any time soon so thought it best to coat it. I'll grab some wire wool as I havnt sprayed it yet

Yeah I noticed that as well

Careful with wire wool, if you don't get all the little bits of the wool off, you'll be left with rust spots.

Might be better off with fine grit sandpaper.

Before you paint the headers I'd ring round for a few quotes to get them ceramic coated, may not be that expensive?

Sadly with the other parts and the mrs birthday next week I just don't have the funds to look at it

Tell her it's your gift to her as it'll save you money in the long run which you can then spend on treating her.

If that works never let her leave!!!!

She moans a bit about it but she follows it up with 'but it's your money I suppose'....I also remind her I would be using the car otherwise and then she'd have to use the bus ;)
