What did you do to your bike today?

Looks decent for a first attempt, just the bottom edge that gives it away.

if you are talking about the 2nd picture, that was before sanding and polishing, to remove the excess resin.
if you are talking about the 3rd picture, that is just light reflex

It is not perfect, but I'm really happy for the 1st attempt

Cleaned a lubed the chain after dry 800 miles and done making the carbon fibre part I was trying to do, not a bad 1st attempt.

I've used the original part to do the 1st layer, after that I removed the carbon layer from the part and layered 4 extra layers.

The end piece is about 60% the weight

That looks great, brilliant effort.

Ignore me then, I'd be well chuffed with that especially for a first go.

Loving the Monster 821 so far, the noise is addictive! Went out for a day's ride yesterday and lightly toasted my nuts when sat in traffic due to the heat from the exhaust and rear cylinder

Fitted a few bits to it recently too:

Lightech Front and Rear Axle Sliders
Probolt Paddock Stand Bobbins
Evotech Rad Guard (engine guard to be fitted once I've removed the seized manifold nuts!)
CNC Racing Swingarm Pivot Bolts
Highsider Bar End Mirrors
Retro Tank Stickers

Just a couple more red CNC bolts remaining to complete the subtle black/red scheme, and then I might start on the carbon...

To each their own, but if it were mine I wouldn't add any more red bolts or it'll start looking a bit "M&P"... It's handsome as it is.

Yeah I'm not gonna go nuts, probably just the coolant filler cap and the radiator mounting bolt. At the moment, most of the red is towards the back and bottom of the bike so wanted some balance.

Finally finished fitting the Evotech radiator guard and lower engine cover to my Monster 821, after I discovered you need to remove the exhaust manifold nuts during fitting - which look like they'd been rounded off years ago. :( After finally getting them off and replacing them with titanium ones, I managed to complete the fitting. Looks good and the bike's undercrackers are now armoured!:)

Picking up my MT10 with a set of new Bridgestone S22s. I love the S22 (got them on my other bike) and can't wait to see the improvement over the OEM version of the S20's it was fitted with which are known to be a bit naff. Sun is shining and it's a good day!

Oooh tyre talk :D

Hating the Supercorsa SPs on the RS at the moment - not sure if they're a newer revision (v3 I guess) than the ones on my first RS, but they feel horrid!

Went for a spin the other night, and had the rear slip out twice, and then the back end track a road repair mid-corner, messing my line right up.

Can't wait to ditch them - I don't rate them for road riding, they seem to have such a tiny operating window, and need track-day-esq thrashing to keep them up to temp; they also crap in the wet.

Usually go Michelin Road 5s, but I might go for Ross Corsa 2s this time, or S22s.

Got new tyres on it ready for a big France/Italy tour coming up soon, then rode it home just missing the rain.

Went for the Metzeler Roadtec 01 SE.

Sigh, I checked the chain ready for tomorrow and the idiots had it way too tight after the tyre change.

In preparation for a nice 3-5 mountain pass tour tomorrow I have:
  • Adjusted pressures (33F/36R)
  • Adjusted rear preload (34mm static sag)
  • Set chain tension 2-5mm from swing arm with rear shock unloaded, as per instruction and torqued up rear axle to 90nm (this was at ~12mm!!!)
  • Removed chain wax and put engine oil on it as per factory instructions
  • Changed to GP shift

GP shift is awesome, the quick shifter works so much better in that orientation. Maybe it's just that the linkage angle is 90 degrees now while before it was more like 75-80 degrees.

I can also confirm that the Roadtec 01 SE are superb in a thunder storm...

Why was it set to 75-80° anyway? Should always be 90°.
