I sold my Hornet (a few days ago).... Then, as the shed was free, moved the basketcase zx6r in, and started to sort through the box of bits:D

I don't get it. You see threads like this on every biking forum on the internet, you're such a vulnerable person on the roads and all it takes is one second of lapsed judgement from not just you but anyone around you and you could be in hospital with life changing injuries or worse.

Mirrors are such a vital part of your situational awareness, for me the bigger the better, I don't care if they look crap, they could literally save my life. So why replace them with awkward little box-tickers the size of a postage stamp and as useful as not having mirrors at all?

(PS this isn't aimed to you Logsi, just in general, see loads of bikes with crap mirrors or no mirrors at all)

I agree!

It’s more of a trial if anything just to see if they’re viable as a bit of a visual tweak. OEM+ if you will.

Surprisingly they give a good view but not sold yet.

Maybe I’ll get a Reevu like my neighbour, he always rates it!

I can only speak from experience, but the size of mirrors (cars and bikes) has never really offered me any additional situational awareness on the road – from huge dumbo-esq ones on a Lexus I had, to small ones on an old Escort; there was hardly any difference. Likewise, between the chuffing great big mirrors on an SV650, to the smaller token ones on my Hypermotard- no real extra benefit.

Losing mirrors completely is a dumb move imo – saw a guy at Fish Hill yesterday who had mirror blanks (and nothing else) on this RSV4 RF, and unless you are going to be doing life savers every few seconds; then this is certainly a Darwin mod imo!

But some of these smaller ones, have glass that still offers quite a decent field of view (convex I think) – so though they might be smaller, you probably don’t lose much in terms of what you can see behind; and the placement of Logsi’s ones will probably offer more visibility than the standard ones – not sure about you folks, but irrespective of how I position a mirror, there is always 20-30% of arm/elbow in view.

Edit: just to add - anything smaller than the ones Logsi has, are too small imo, and those are the ones I would class almost as daft as having no mirrors.

The ones I've added are convex and do have a wide angle of view. Surprisingly I have less elbow, arm, body, obscuring these than the OEM ones. The only real issue I have with them currently is I need to tell myself everything is closer than it appears. It is quite nice not having the large mirrors right in your field of view.

I grabbed a KTM open airbox lid for the SMC R and fitted it to see if it increased the induction noise.

That it did. Quite a lot! It went from being OEM+ to ASBO so I've removed it again but it was quite comical how loud it was. Did sound how the bike should though with that massive single cylinder thumper!

Old girl flew threw her MoT earlier this week. She's been sat up on the paddock stands in the garage pretty much since Covid kicked in a couple of years ago. So dusted her down, gave her a check over and chucked her in for the MoT to see what needed doing, potentially. Nowt!! Been using my K1300S for two wheeled duties but this old beauty can still hustle. I had forgotten just how utterly brutal the power delivery is.

And the noise............OMG.........the noise!!!!! :D:eek::D

Just had some new hoops fitted - went for a set of Metzeler M9RRs; perfect day for bedding them in too, as it is ******* down!

Bad news, the garage said that my cam chain is sounding noisy, so it looks like it might be a trip to BMW for a warranty job.

Ack, what bike is that @Scort?

I had M9RRs fitted to my KTM 1290GT last week. I've yet to use them in anger, though I'm heading to Scotland in a few weeks which is their main purpose. They replaced a pair of Angel GT 2. My first impression was: oh, the bike is sitting higher now! :D. They are far more aggressively shaped.

2019 S1000R - I've seen threads before about them being noisy/rattly sounding; so saying "it's just a BMW thing", and the 'official' stance from BMW (from said forums) is that the alternative chain tensioner should only be installed at 15K - I'm on 7.3K at the moment.

I did notice the higher stance when I got on the bike, and they tipped in so quickly  Can't wait to get them fully scrubbed and onto some decent bends, hoping they blow the S22s I had on the Street Triple, out of the water, but those were some godlike tyres to these M9s will have to be the next level of epic to do so :D Mind you, I will settle for a decent amount of milage on them... hoping they aren't done in the 3-4k my R1 used to eat tyres, or the Misses might kill me.

Behind you... Naked!
TRIKE:
Today, I took the engine off the trike, to replace the seal between gearbox and engine, only to find that the holes for the pins were worn to buggery and the flywheel has 3 huge cracks in it.
So, now I need a new flywheel, and the sockets for the pins on the crank are not repairable ( without taking the crank out that is ) and so I am just hoping that liquid metal wil solve my problems.

BOBBER:
The Bobber has a front end that bottoms out whener a buterly lands on the handlebars, so I have bought a pair of adjusters for the forks, and some heavier oil to thry that. I thought I had my paddock stand but I remembered that I have given it out to a mate, and so I need to get that back. In the mean time, I had a bit of a fanny about with the carbs. Im not a carb expert by any stretch, and these are running rich as heck, but the thing really needs properly rejetting and so I have a full refurb kit ready for someone else to sort the carbs out. Its difficult with straight through pipes and 2 completely physically different carbs, to get them balanced properly... And the thing is that they are the right, and original carbs! - Suzuki are weird?

Honda:
Been running poorer and poorer, I know its the carbs, but carbs are not my expertise.
It runs sweet as a nut, but its losing power and top end almost each time I go out on it. Its the ONLY bike I have with 2 seats, and so my daughter wants to play on it and this is a pain in the butt.
I really need to get it sorted, but with the Car failing its MOT this morning and needing a couple of hundred thrown at it. and then the Trike also needing a bit more spending on that, and the Bobber also needing a bit of TLC, the little Honda gets pushed to the back of the queue.

Bought one of these and it arrived today - Constands Mover II. Fitment is for my K1300S. Brilliant things, allows you to push the bike around and manoeuvre it anywhere in the garage you fancy. Got another one coming shortly for the RSV Mille.

Ditched the mahoosive rear turn signals in favour of some slightly less visually offensive ones, and fitted a smaller reg plate.
During, and after..

Then fitted some R&G crash bobbins that the dealer gave me as they fiited Rosso 2's instead of the Rosso Corsa 2's that we'd agreed on.
To be fair to them, they did say that they'd order and fit some Corsa 2's, but I'd already done 100+ miles on them and they seem pretty good (and they'll last a bit longer as I commute on the bike)..
