What Did You Get In Your GCSE's?

No I don't / didn't.

The last bit just came across as you must get good grades to get here and you must get good grades to get there and that gets you into Uni, like it was some fixed plan from above that you had to follow..

Well, let's put it this way.

During a person's education, there are doors open to him or her which lead to future opportunities. Getting good GCSEs, A Levels and possibly a degree, leave a lot more doors open than if the above are not done or done to a lesser standard. The point that I am trying to make is that by not studying as hard, you leave a few doors open. By studying hard, you open many more doors, and not only that, but the doors that would be open had you not worked hard are still also open.

With one exception: the one door that might close is the benefits door, due to someone being overqualified ;)

But my point still stands. Whilst good grades are by no means the be all and end all, they offer MUCH more flexibility than less good grades :)

I was a disgrace in my GCSE's (and also at ALevels).
I was fortunate in that I got into uni when the fees went up to £3000 (strange thing to say I know!), as the numbers went down that year.

My GCSE's were ok: Maths A, Physcis A, Biology B, ICT B, German B, English BB, French C, Chemistry C, Product C...................Re D..................Manufacturing EE

My Alevels were equally poor: Maths C, Physics D, ICT B.

I got kicked off mechanical engineering at Loughborough after 1 year due to laziness.

I got a kick up the backside and started again on Manufacturing and now am top of the class and on for a 1st or a 2:1 - For once in my life I am achieving.

Why am I telling you this? Because you should not let your grades determine your life.
Decide what you want and go for it. You must find what you want and take it as the world owes you jack ****.

:)

4 C's...Maths,English, English Lit, Science
1 B..History
2 D's..PE and R.S

Wish i had studied more, but oh well wasn't that bad. Didn't do any A levels which i regret.

Was rather bored of school year 9 onwards, didn't revise then again I didn't do too bad better than my family was expecting lol

To me my grades aren't anything I don't agree with tests to prove your better at certain things than other and such though i'm sure many of you will disagree with that...

I agree. I found with GCSEs sometimes idiots get good grades, and really clever people get bad grades. Then again, most of the time it is the other way round, as it should be.

GCSEs and to an extent A Levels, are never really about being clever. It's about how hard you work.

A*A*AAABBCDE

Could've done better, didn't try hard. AAAC A levels.

Doing courses and an Open Uni degree now a fair few years after leaving school, should have a couple of degrees one day didn't have the motivation before... doubt GCSE results have done anything for me.

Words will barely express my lack of effort in achieving those results.

I then bummed about doing/flunking A-levels, after which got enrolled on an advanced modern apprenticeship and passed, and now I'm working my bum off on a HND in Manufacturing Engineering (and am top/almost top of my year with the possibility of being student of the year - go me!).

I love this utter crap.

Clever people don't need to work as hard as someone who isn't and hence do better.

Good GCSE's and A-levels have a good correlation with smart people in my experience. Smart people also tend to have the foresight to work hard.

I would love to hear your definition of smart.

i got a U in my business exam. i went in high for the exam and since it was in summer, the sun was on my face. went to sleep for the whole thing :/

The only ones that mean anything to me are the six that I got C's in, which were Maths, Double Science, English Language and Literature, and Geography.

The ones I don't care about and pretend don't exist are Art (E), R.E. (E), German (G), and Resistant Materials, a.k.a. D&T (D).

Anyway, despite having fairly unspectacular GCSEs, I still managed to get five university offers to do Computer Science and Software Engineering.

Idiots can get great GCSE grades.
