Buying a BMW for £600 is always going to end in tears. It'll probably cost triple that to keep it goin for a year

Don't look at the cheap Mk3's, they're crap. As long as the above has a decent amount of MOT and it drives OK you won't go too far wrong.

No it wont. I ran a 318i for a good few months and never had to do anything to it. Just sold it on when i needed something with more room in the boot. (hatch back)

Provided you select the right car and arn't a mechanical pleb it really won't end in tears.

Unless its speced upto the eye balls.. there aint all that much to go wrong bar rust and window runners on the E36's they are pretty simple and solid. if i felt the need id buy one for that price again.. But you are buying into bottom end of the range and its not worth it really. E36's aint some god like BMW that you have spend stupid money on for parts and id be happy to work on one myself.

A Tigra would be fine if you were a woman or a gay man who wanted a relatively reliable but dull-to-drive car which looked good. The only problem is, it doesn't! It's a nasty heap of junk to be avoided at all costs.
