What do you guys do in the evenings after work?

Before I had a child, I’d fill my evenings with hobbies (rock climbing, r/c cars, gaming, working on my cars, walking, etc).

The last 8 months I’m just glad of an early night and 6+ hours of broken sleep. Fingers crossed I can start to do more with the cars (both full size and RC) as the year goes on. Could really do with getting back to the rock climbing as well, but not got time for all of my old favourites!
I remember the times... Before... with great fondness. My girl just turned 2 and she is a lot easier in the evenings (and nights) so there is a bit of hope for you.

For me its:
- feed/bath daughter 6pm
- eat dinner 645pm
- story time and bed for daughter 715pm
- TV with missus 8pm (optional, depending what's on)
- game until 10pm
- bed and an episode of something light on Netflix then lights off at 1030/1045

You're probably right on all points there.

It is a shame though, as I believe the pub became somewhat of a community hub after the church waned in popularity over the last 50 years or so.

I live in the back of beyond and we keep in touch with everyone in the village (more like a hamlet) through the pub - even if it's by proxy (I go every other night for one or two). If this pub closed, we would barely speak to each-other and have no idea how everyone was doing.

I walk past a huge gym on the way to get the train after work and it's wall to wall of people on exercise bikes with earphones in. To me, it's quite a telling sight of the times we now live in.

I can't help thinking the decline in pub usage is contributing to the lack of community we seem to be experiencing.

It's either that, or I'm a lazy alcoholic....

Yeah, all the pubs my area are knocked down or burnt down and turned into other businesses (like an 24 hrs vets  ) A Mico Bar was going to be opened not too far away but received backlash from the local pensioners so that never went ahead :(

Exercise (badminton, running, walking, anything I feel like really), play games, watch TV shows or movies, go to parties/raves. Most evenings I spent on my own, I don’t have many friends :(.

I'm a lazy alcoholic who also uses drinking time to socialise and keep in touch with the local community, which has its fair share of people with similarly excessive bad habits!

For me it's gym everyday, Tuesday and Thursdays I have rugby after so it's just food then bed after that. The other nights it's food after the gym then just watch TV or go on the computer. I never really see friends in the week, although we do go to the pub Friday evening every few weeks.

Gym Monday to Friday after work as it means avoiding rush hour as well. Then dinner, TV/Game depending on whether the GF is busy with work or not.

WHen I finish work I go home to my second job, dad to twin toddlers. In fact, I go to my day job to get a break :p

I've become a total gym-bunny since taking up weight training in mid-January, so unless I have a pre-arranged/last minute drinking session or game of snooker organised with a mate, you'll find me in the gym four days a week - I literally go every other day, including weekends. Sometimes go for a swim on the days in between as well, if the previous night's weights session doesn't render me unable to move!

17:30-19:30 is spent doing stuff with the boy. Now he’s 6 that normally means dinner, Bath, homework, a bit of light gaming on the Switch (bomberman is his current favourite) actually he gets quite competitive and then putting him to bed. After that it’s time with the wife/friends and bed by midnight-01:00.

Thanks to children I can function quite well on 5-6 hours sleep most nights with the odd occasion of going to bed super early and sleeping for 10-12 hours.

Finish work at 7pm (on days) 7am (on nights), so really I don’t do anything. Usually just get home and shower at which time it’s 8-8:15pm. Then watch a bit of TV or music for an hour and go to bed as have to be up 6am next morning.

It is a hard shift pattern and 12hours is a long time at work, especially when most of it involves a lot of physical activity and averaging probably 8miles+ walking.

However I do get 4 days off so plenty of time then with the family, work on my hobbies, pc projects, bike and other general socialising with family and friends.

Lol

Unless I work from home I'm normally commuting... the choice of living in the Welsh countryside but working places with a good wage.

The usual parenting/food/housework at the start of each evening and now it's summer I'll manage the gardens - veg, fruit, etc and other tinkering with hobbies. I probs waste at least half an hour idly surfing the net before bed

Lots of different interests so what I'm doing often depends on the mood i'm in... I usually have a little bit of a routine of sitting and do nothing for 30-40 minutes when I get in the door to clear my head and then cook dinner.
After dinner I'll usually do one of the following activities:

Watch a film
Play a PC/PS4 game
Draw/write some content for my local roleplay group
Mess about with a bit of programming
Do some gardening and listen to a podcast
Wash & clean the car
Play a boardgame
Browse online stores
Go for a walk
Play some D&D
Tinker with things I find in the garage

Depends where I am. This week I'm in Beijing, the traffic is so bad I'm not back until almost 7 - after that I get some food, and then decide whether I want to go to the gym or just go for a walk. The city is hot, crowded and exhausting so I don't always really feel like doing much.
