What do you think of the 4070Ti?

Frame gen is obviously most useful when you can't hit 60 FPS at demanding resolutions like 4K.

This is what it will be used for in consoles.

There can still be absolute performance gains (by simply making the die larger, more transistors) but not so much performance-per-watt gains (which depends on the node size among other factors).

I think that's very true. The next few generations are going to get REALLY power hungry. Although I guess it depends how far the end users will go. How many watts will you spend to get those frames?

I thought memory bandwidth mattered less with the RTX 4000 series, due to the much larger L2 cache?

The 4070 TI has 48MB L2 cache.

It may matter less but it always matters. If it did not have any impact then even the high end cards would have 128bit bus.

And:

- when people on high refresh rate displays want to get the most from their display i.e. to benefit from improved motion clarity

- facing cpu bottlenecks with no way to overcome it by brute force hardware i.e. MSFS

Yeah, I imagine it does. But the gap wasn't massive between GDDR6 and 6x in the previous generation.

Couldn't they beef up the bandwidth of GDDR6 also? I think this was done already with some AMD cards. Example with 192bit memory bus:

Did anyone see the Gamers Nexus review that was savage his yearly quota of sass has been achieved it was brutal lmao.

@GamersNexus

I don't think I've ever in my career seen a company get steamrolled in reviews as unanimously and gruesomely as what just happened to NVIDIA. Every single review title and thumb I've seen thus far has been brutal.

I do wonder what price these will actually be, 3080s in stock at ~£800, the gfx card pricing is bonkers isn't it. I haven't looked for a while at actual stock / prices as I'm happy with the 3070ti FE I bought (I thought that was expensive). Feels like its gonna be more like £850 -900.

Well I am going to leave this thread now and await the OCUK pricing so a new wave of horror can overwhelm us.

My final thoughts are. It is a really good piece of silicon, all of the 4000 cards are excellent performers. The only downsides are the price and of course the silly new power connector.

Having now seen the specs of the 4060 that is going to be released all I can say is hold onto to your hats because you have not seen anything yet.

This card has GDDR6 with 20gbps bandwidth. Basically, there's not much difference in performance between high end GDDR6 and GDDR6x.

Prices are already up (799-829), but I can't tell you where. Suprim X and Strix OC will probably be 899-999

It's just a shame we customers have to play the waiting game, while AMD prepares to release Navi32 based cards, but it's nothing new.

Actually, yeah the prices have been updated again and the 4070ti TUF is now reading 899.99 inc VAT instead of 799.99. That means the Surpim X and Strix OC will be 1,099inc.
