What do you want from the Next Gen.

Not if everyone had m&kb support?

Not everyone will get it out of the box though?!!?

So then I will have to buy a M&K, a smaller screen so I can then sit at a desk, or find somewhere to support it.

Nope, the majority of console owners are going to use a pad, execpt from the slight few who will use the M&K which will destroy the level playing field.

MS and Sony know this, it wont happen.

Better wifi, cutting edge tech and enough ram. wonder if they'll support 2&4k resolution. i didnt think so but if sony pushed it, they could shift a few tv's.

Going to go to the official launch store after ps3 launch when they gave everyone a HD tv (i think i remember reading that)

I just want them to go back to the days of blood sweat and tears put in to games but of course that wont happen games will continue to be churned out yearly instead of magical games that take years of hard work being made.

I'd like to see at least microsoft allow you to put your own music on the hard drive and not have to stream it or use a stick.
We all know whats going to happen the 720 or whatever it will be called will be a 360 with slightly beefier gpu and cpu nothing ground breaking same goes for ps4.
ANyway I am sure the emphasis is going to be on all the things we don't use want or need like failbook integration.

Q) If M&KB is so great, why do PC gamers wish to use a pad?

Because some games are better with pad, and some are better with m&kb. PC gives you the ability to choose the right tool for the job, whereas with a console you're stuck with a pad, where on FPS and RTS it's like trying to do watchmaking whilst wearing oven gloves.

used to think mouse and keyboard was the bees knees, but now its my Xbox 360 pad all the way, KB&M just feels so arcane now and sluggish as hell.

If you think m&kb is sluggish compared to a pad, I think you need a different mouse

So its unfair for everyone to use K&M because some people have never played an FPS with K&M? Just like not everyone has used a controller and whilst having to get used to it would be at a disadvantage against controller veterans, surely your logic should work both ways, unless your female :-)

anyway, i don't want to play against other controller users as I know it would be unfair for those whom do not want to use K&M. But I would like the option to play with though whom do want to use K&M like some titles on the PS3 already let you.

Exactly, give people the choice to play how they want, and everyone's happy :)

Then that's your choice, why insist on forcing everyone else to do the same?

Eye candy... Lots of ! All games to run at 60fps in high resolution. Especially racing games. Nothing less. All saves and profiles on a cloud.

It needs to be pad only on consoles so everyone is equal. It would be nice to use a M&K for certain single player games, but playing multiplayer, it would be unfair for those using a pad.

If m&kb came into the console equation, i for one wouldn't bother playing them anymore.

I'd have nowhere to place them while on my couch. That's what i have a PC for ! A nice desk, office chair. Consoles are for the bedroom of living room.. Not a desk and office chair.

A console that has good reliability not something that you pay £300 or so for only for it to fail 1-2 years down the line and suddenly you see them releasing a better version already

If games supported KB & M then said games allow you to only play against others using your controls of choice.

In PS Move shooters that can use the Move or DS3 you can (I'm fairly sure) choose to only play against move or DS3 players or anyone that wants to play.

On UMVc3 on PS Vita you can play with either touch controls or buttons. In multiplayer you can choose to only play against touch/buttons or any.

Why the hell anyone thinks that adding KB&M support would be a BAD thing baffles me since it needs just ONE extra option in the multiplayer options to make the different choices of gamers completely irrelevant.

Nobody is saying that games wouldn't support a pad, just that the OPTION for a KB&M would be nice. Again, multiplayer games with multiple control schemes have ALREADY resolved this issue very very simply.

They will always release a better (IE smaller/cooler/less power usage/quieter) version and it will always be cheaper because chips get smaller all the time.

Consoles not having the YLOD or RROD issues would be great though.

Im suprised to read not all games on the PS3 and XBOX are ≥ 720p. If so what res are we talking about?

Many are circa 600 ish.

Both the 360 and the PS3 are more than capable of putting out a 1080p60 image as they have games that run at those settings(PS3 for sure and I assume 360).

The issue is that developers have found that high resolution and high frame rates have no bearing on metacritic scores, reviews or sales. Average Joe Gamer just ants pretty sparkles and effects all of which cost cycles.

You could have COD at 720p60 if you wanted to sacrifice other options. Average Joe gamer just wouldn't want to do that and so games get released as they do at sub 720 resolutions.

My (seemingly unoriginal) unordered thoughts:

Better hardware reliability proven with a longer warranty term
Better error codes/detection/diagnosis
Better multimedia capabilities including streaming/DLNA
PS3 needs OS level ability to play user music in game
PS3 needs a headset bundled with console
Dedicated servers, with services like OnLive this is harder not to provide, even if it is at a cost to the user (fully prepared for the PS4 PSN to be chargeable). Could be run by the publisher directly or Sony/MS for a additional license fee...
720p (and no cheating by dynamically editing the horizontal axis) with a very consistent framerate and AA/FSAA - this provides good headroom for future gfx techniques and comparable 3D modes
Automated cloud based saves - saved within profile, ability to dump to key fob in one operation
BD drives, HDD game images and preferably BT support for accessories
Standardised and automated patch/updates system
Better gaming social networking

ps3ud0

Average Joe is a moron :p Gimmie 60fps over special effects any day. I remember F-Zero on the GC touting 60fps, I'm sure that made a positive effect on its sales.

Exactly. I really don't understand why this isn't given as an option in more games on current gen consoles? (Older gen I can see, as there were very few games for which were relevant).

Do you want to play with m&kb? No - Don't buy one.

Don't want to play against m&kb players? Tick the box in the options (disabled if the console detects a m&kb connected)

Everyone's happy.

cross platform play (console only), I'm sure it'll never happen for a number of reasons, but finding out a family member/close friend has a console of the other brand sucks :p
