Thing is, a lot of people refer to him as gospel. That is the irritating part of critics. I certainly don't listen to critics but I do hear a lot of people refer to him and such.

I agree with him on a lot of films. Not everything, but a lot, so he's very useful to me, as Ebert was until recently. He's not infallible, though. He liked Kickass, which is utter mince.
 
American Sniper - 8/10

The Hobbit Battle of 5 Armies. 4/10 if i'm being generous. Slow, tedious, annoying overpowering score.

Nearly ****ed myself laughing when the 1000+ strong orc army stopped in their tracks when 10 dwarfs finally come out of the mountain. WTF
 
Guardians of the Galaxy - 6/10

Likeable enough I suppose but it all felt a bit incoherent and inconsequential. I've not seen all of the other Marvel films so maybe I'm missing some cannon but I wasn't really sure why I was supposed to be rooting for the generic humanlike dudes or what the motivation of the bad guys was, other than being bad for the sake of needing a villain.

Blue Ruin.

It had a slow start and I was starting to feel like it might be a slog to get through but it proved me wrong and got very good and extremely gripping - brilliant thriller.

Birdman... big budget indie type movie, impressive camera work but found story dull and comes across pretentious and thinks it more clever than it is.

8/10 - Loved the twist at the end about the killers.
 
Captain America: Winter Solider.

Thought it was better than the first Captain America film. As with most current films, it's overly long and the action scenes could have easily been trimmed a little.

Overall a decent action movie with a bit more about it than most.

Also watched Dallas Buyers Club last week.

Great lead performance and given the subject matter an entertaining watch.
