What film did you watch last night?

Just saw Mark Kermode's take on Greenland:

A good disaster movie is hard to come by, and Greenland is a very good disaster movie. It stars Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin as an estranged couple who, in the face of an impending apocalyptic event, take their son and try to find some kind of sanctuary. With a focus on character and tension as well as visual spectacle, this is a genuinely thrilling popcorn movie that Mark has now seen three times.

I have no idea what movie he was watching but it wasn't the same one as I watched... did someone have a gun to his head?

The only way you could come to that conclusion really is if you watched the first 20 minutes or so, skipped to the end (which was OK but not amazing and lacked any pay off) and missed the bulk of the movie.

The only thing he watched three times was maybe the trailer.

Space Sweepers

A cheesy but fun Korean sci-fi. There wasn't really anything original here, but it was delivered with the confidence of its convictions, some nice CGI, a few punches in the feels, and a lot of heart.

Worth a watch 7/10.

Greenland on Amazon Prime. 6/10.

Starring Gerald the Butler and Monicca The Bacchaharain. It is a disaster film where a comet and its smaller bits are on collision course to earth but goverments and scientists say all is ok. What can go wrong really? The latter are all wrong and Gerald's family are on course for an adventure in order to get to safety.

Some very good distruction shots, but the film has too many predictable moments you've seen a hundred times before.
Watched this last night and agree. I tend to like films like this (Day After Tomorrow etc) but this was disappointing.

School of Rock

A lot of fun to watch this film again. Jack Black was excellent, I would go as far as saying Oscar worthy even though it wasn't the style of film that wins awards.

8/10

Cloud Atlas

Very pretty in 4k, the rare comedic moments were lol, but over all not as smart as it thinks it is. The future language thing was both a nice idea and difficult to understand, I only got like 70% of what they were saying.

5/10

Bliss

High hopes, but fell flat for me, the ending was lame as, no closure to the story.

4/10

Over the weekend i watched all of the Ip Man movies. Fantastic action, great story(Although apparently embellished and not actually accurate in many ways, for instance he didnt fight a British Boxer but his student did fight a Russian boxer and defeated him in 3 punches) and very emotional in places. I have the Master Z one i will be watching tonight.

It hasn’t been on for a while, but “City Island” is an absolute cracker of a film IMO.
Andy Garcia is a Corrections Officer, who wants to quit to become an actor, but he wants to make things right with his long lost son Tony, who’s in the jail where Garcia works, Tony was fathered before Garcia met his wife, Julianna Margulies, but when Tony is released, he moves in with Garcia and Margulies, and through a series of misunderstandings, Garcia’s daughter Molly looks like getting it on with Tony.

I enjoyed this film a lot more the second time I watched it as I put the subtitles on, which made it generally so much easier to follow.
