What film did you watch last night?

News of the World. - 7/10

Western of sorts with Tom Hanks. A bit uneven but worth a watch. Hanks as ever is very good. It suffers from that 'long book made into 2 hour film' issue of having to jump through all the main sequences at a breathless pace whilst trying to let the characters develop. Would have been better as a 4 part series imo.

Watched the three John Wick films over the last three weekends.

1. Original, fresh and tight.
2. More of the same with a little bit added.
3. More of the same with not much added.

1 and 2 are 4/5 films, 3 didn't grab me as much and I am not hugely excited about the prospect of 4.

I agree with that summary. The characters needed to be fleshed out more, especially Hanks as he was more or less unknown to us. Still enjoyed it overall though. :)

Triple Frontier (2019) 7/10

Perfect valentines movie.... :P

Its alright in parts, cliche, good main cast, i do confess to me the suspense and build up in parts being good but it kinda lost me towards the end.

Id watch it if you have nothing better to do.

Black Water:Abyss - 5/10. It's ok and passes the time. Basically some people go exploring a cave, get trapped by floodwater and attacked my a crocodile.

Have also been watching Star Wars recently. My wife is a fan, but i'd never watched them. So far watched the 3 newer ones, so about to go onto Rogue 1 and Hans Solo and then move back to the old ones. They're alright, but not sure i'm quite getting the hype. Maybe that comes from the originals?

TBH, the original three films are the ones that count (eps 4/5/6). The rest are optional.
