What film did you watch last night?

Blood Red Sky. Quite enjoyed this once, although some of the acting was a little off. Also, even only a relatively short film, it still could have done with further trimming imo, as it ran out of steam on occasion. Worth a watch though.

6/10

Relatively short? It was 2 hours! Waaay to long and dragged to the point i skipped about 15mins to the end.

Had an urge to rewatch Mission Impossible lately from Ghost Protocol onwards (imo when they became truly great action movies) but thought nope, if i'm going to do that, i'll start again at the beginning.

Got about an hour into the first MI from 1996 and it's aged terribly, i'll power through of course but my rose tinted specs are/were strong with that movie.

Next ofc is what's considered the worst in the series but it's sort of a guilty pleasure. Also the first time I was introduced to Thandie Newton who at the time I thought was stunning.

We had the same idea a few weeks ago. I remember watching the first one in my local cinema when it came out and thought it was the best thing ever but now it just seems so dated. It really hasn't aged well.

The Night House (2020) - 7/10

A serviceable horror film about dealing with loss that doesn’t really stand out, except for the great emotional performance from Hall.

The mystery unravels at a good pace, the setting is well use and it has a satisfying ending, but it wasn’t really scary or shocking and it was more intriguing than creepy or disturbing.

Watched all the Star Wars movies over the last week and a half. With the exception of Eps 1 - 3, all of them are pretty much 7/10 or higher with The Rise of Skywalker being the worst of the latest set. As for Eps 1 - 3, nothing higher than a 5/10 from me with the first being the worst and most wooden effort. I rate both Solo and Rogue One at at least 8/10.

Beckett

A good advertisement for taking a break when tired whilst driving..

That's about it really.

Once upon a time in Hollywood

I like Tarantino's films, he's made some true masterpieces, but this felt like a self-indulgent mess. There's plenty that could be discussed about the ethics of using relatively recent real world events as a backdrop, the dubious depicition of Bruce Lee dubbed as "disrespectful" by his living relatives, or the portrayal of unrepentant child rapist Roman Polanski, but honestly I can't be arsed. The film should be good or bad on its own merits and it's here where it falls short. Part of this is that much of the story requires you to know the details of the Manson murders to understand what is going on, and get the film's poorly explained twist, without which the story doesn't really hang together. But I think it's mostly that it just feels disconnected. The writing is good, although not Tarantino's best work, but not good enough to carry a weak story. Likewise the filmography. Still, despite a lengthy run time, apart from a slow start, I was never bored.

Just okay 6/10.

Anti-Life, unwatchable/10.

Had to turn it off after 25 minutes due to the camera jumping all over the place triggering motion sickness.

Probably a blessing in disguise if what I did manage to watch was anything to go by.

Mid 90's 6/10
Didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped I would (given my teenage years in the mid 90s weren't a million miles away from the characters in the film).
Felt like a bit of a meandering journey without any real point... But if you like skateboarding and being reminded of what a **** up you were as a kid then maybe something to be gained out of it!

Boss Level 7/10 surprisingly entertaining. I didn't have a high hopes but I was very pleasantly surprised. Grillo plays the part well, the script and direction were pretty good and even Mel turned in a small but decent performance. It's not going to be a classic but it was everything I could have hoped for.

Started Little Big Man but not finished, what a great movie that is.
I quite enjoyed this too when watching this evening. One of the better streaming films of late. Been some right dross. Army of the Dead I’m looking at you…

It did actually try - found it better than I thought it would be - but towards the end it kind of got a bit bogged down as it brought in more serious elements to move the story towards a conclusion and kind of ran itself to a halt.

The middle was excellent to be fair.

We've got a friend round and watched Die Hard because she's watching every Alan Rickman film. It was awful, wouldn't even rate it top 500 let alone top 100
