What film did you watch last night?

Don't Look Up
6/10

Deliberately a little tongue in cheek film about the discovery of a planet killing comet. Quite a few well known names in it. Worth a watch.

The Northman - 5/10
Too long, too predictable, pretty meh. Some of the imagery was cool, but probably just not my cup of tea.

Mum & Dad - 2008 (Not the 2017 Mum and Dad with Nicholas Cage) : 5.5/10

Low budget British horror/torture porn film that was actually pretty good for the genre. I thought I recognised the girl playing the Polish worker kidnapped by a sadistic suburban family and it turned out to be a young Olga Fedori who played the Eastern European nurse/doctor in Holby City.

Two Headed Shark Attack - 2/10

Think I nodded off about half way through, and as much as I love B movies, this was utterly dire :D I'll try the rest (it goes up to Six Headed Shark Attack lol) but so far it's not a patch on Sharknado!

The Batman - 3/10, just way too Emo with a dull repetitive score and poorly written script. Pattinson reminded me of Tobey Maguire from Spiderman 3.

Don't know if its just me, but i found his frame a bit too thin for the role, i know he looks good in the suit but so would anybody, i just kept thinking theres a puny frame behind that, compared to say what Bale done in the dark knight trilogy

The Northman (2022) - 9/10

An epic film with a straightforward story and effective use of Norse mythology.

Its intense rituals, powerful imagery, guttural and pounding music and display of culture in its authentic setting makes for an entertaining and memorable experience.

Stunning scenery, brutal and bloody fight scenes and great acting performances, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Surprised no imax! Looking forward to it.

Tell me about it, my other half is obsessed with serial killer/murder case documentaries. Watches them every day. Makes you wonder if its why you often hear about women who end up marrying murderers who are serving life sentences.
My wife is the same. Anytime I go up to my games console or Lego building. I come downstairs and she is watching an other documentary about a murderer or serial killer.

Operation Mincemeat (2021) - 6/10

A true war time spy thriller that tells its story with very little flair.

It picks up in the second half as the plot(s) begin to unravel, but the heavy focus on the love story wasn’t that interesting.

There are some good moments and the acting is solid throughout, but it could have done with more tension, humour or drama.

I think all women generally feel like they can 'fix' any man so watching killer documentaries reinforces that inner monologue that they could have helped them :D
I can see that. My mum watches everything she can. Then she comes out with pearls like "always learning", whilst smiling at my dad as he rolls his eyes. :D
She always trying to understand their psychology.
Come to think of it, it's not just murder. We went to a book fair once and she appeared beside me (is already paying) and on top of her pile was a book of gay erotica. "Nothing wrong with understanding their thinking", she said to my wide eyes.

The Utah cabin murders
:cry::cry:

This has to be seen to be believed, it makes the acting in a porno where the plumber has called to “clean out the pipes” seem Oscar worthy. It’s set in 1990 yet has modern police cars and modern led lights on them, the sheriff at one point is driving a car (B.A Baracus style) and it’s a right hand drive police car….in Utah no less.

The budget on this thing must have been a fiver tops, that’s including payment for the “actors”.

and it’s a right hand drive police car….in Utah no less.

Actually a right hand drive vehicle or did someone flip the footage and not notice?

EDIT: Looks like it was filmed in Wales... and people saying all the driving scenes are obviously a static vehicle being rocked by the crew LOL.
