What film did you watch last night?

The Florida Project 8.5/10

I love these A24 American slice of life films, find them so engrossing. Cast is brilliant in this one, even the kids. A real sobering look at poverty in the US.

Yea, great film.

I've got Anora and Red Rocket lined up to watch by the same writer/director.

Gladiator (2000)

Got to be double figures now the amount of times I've seen this, including it's original cinema run and it still doesn't disappoint. I can't imagine the sequel being up to anywhere near the original, but no doubt I'll still watch it at some point.

9/10

The Gentlemen (2019)

First time I've seen it. I liked this one, I liked how although it was a reasonable gritty gangster movie also didn't take it self seriously, almost satire but not quite.

Some very good acting as well fair play to Hugh Grant, but everyone really.

That being said, it was nothing amazing.

6/10

not last night but at the weekend with the kids......Sonic 3. Really quite good, maybe not so much as the first but definitely an enjoyable watch for the family and Jim Carey keeps it entertaining with his double act.
easily a 7/10

I totally forgot I saw this. I heard it bombed financially. Are they still going ahead with others do you know?
2 is done and out in the Summer. 3 is in production and 4 is in pre-production apparently. So yes Costner is banging ahead with them retgardless. As I said before - dont think CHapter 1 deserved the panning it got when seen in the context of a 4 film arc.

Not sure if they are getting a cinema release though or straight to streaming.

Thanks for info.

I thought the first one was solid enough, without being amazing, I do feel invested in the various characters and their stories to continue on.

Good news then!

Anora 7.5/10

It was good but I really lost interest in the last 15 mins or so. Middle section of the film was great though. I think the ending felt a little forced and unearned.

90 minutes would have been plenty and would have prevented a lot of unnecessary fillers IMO.

Hellboy - The Crooked Man - 6/10

This was a weird one. I thought the actor playing Hellboy was good, but everyone else is just poor lacking in chemistry. You don't see much action from Hellboy either, not the action we're used to from the previous films.

The story seemed fine but then gets drawn out towards the end. However overall it isn't too bad - the scenery is lovely, the sets are quite good, the camera work however isn't the best but this is a low budget affair. It reminded me of Supernatural (tv show) in a lot of areas.

Baby girl - Nicole Kidman plays toxic girl boss type figure who begins affair with young intern, willing to risk her husband ,kids and job chasing danger and satisfying her kinks at same time. All gets a bit obsessive and creepy in parts.

Both leads excellent. 7/10
