What film did you watch last night?

Vesper - 4.5 /10

Post apocalyptic sci-fi, should be up my street but it really didn't hold my attention and ended up browsing my phone with it on in the background.

Taxi Driver (4K UHD version) - Still one of most favourite films of all time. Not watched in a few years. 4k upgrade didn't ruin it. Still looks great, grain and all with a great soundtrack too. 9/10
Regarding the ending, are you in the figment of his mind camp or the its all real camp, just out of interest.

Sisu (2022)

I've actually struggled with this one, just watched it in half hour segments across the week. I know it's silly and meant to be fun but couldn't get into it with just how "wtf" unrealistic some major moments were.

Makes Rambo films looking like hyper realistic, not going to give it a rating as people seem to enjoy it but really not for me.

The Hunt

Watched this a little while back. Apparently a 'horror' where liberals kidnap rednecks for a hunt, but it's not horror.

What it is is an absolute comedy, loved it. Betty Gilpin is hilarious.

Must watch for the giggles.

The scene at the store is class lol

Okja - 8/10

Decided I need to watch some more Bong Joon ho films. I've only seen Parasite and Snowpiercer. This one was good although tonally all over the place, from fart humour to anti capitalism? Somehow it works, the girl carries it well and there are some really good supporting cast from Dano's activist to Swinton's twin capitalists.

A working man - serviceable Statham flick. It's not a good film by most normal metrics however it's a Jason Statham film so usual yardsticks don't really apply.

Poor dialogue, wooden acting, funny when it probably shouldn't be and vice versa. Despite all this it moves along at a fair enough clip you don't have time to dwell on it's shortcomings too much as it plays out..

If you like Statham flicks you will probably find value in it. If you don't you will likely hate it.

Street Kings 6.5/10

A paint by numbers corrupt cop film that's a little messy with the storyline, but is a pretty decent film nonetheless.

Some heavy hitters in the cast too!

Novocaine (2025) - 7/10

A formulaic but fun action comedy romance.

The concept is used to great effect and whilst the story plays out as expected, it’s funny and entertaining with some good action scenes and visual effects.

It’s a good and solid film all round with great leads, a good cast of characters, pacing, music and ending, but does struggle to leave a lasting impression.

The Host 7.5/10

A really well made monster film. CGI is a little ropy and some of the humour is weirdly slapstick but monster design was interesting
Is this the one that came out about 20 years ago? Had a certain charm to it when I saw it but only saw it the once, when it came out
