What film did you watch last night?

Just saw 'We Need To Talk About Kevin'. 9/10

Brilliant film. Well shot. Well acted. Very affecting and disturbing. Fascinating character study. Highly recommended.

We watched that the other week. It was terrifying.

I watched The Bridge Over The River Kwai this weekend on Blu Ray. It looked great and the story was good. Alec Guinness' character seemed fairly misled.

OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies - 8/10

After watching The Artist and thinking it was awesome I discovered (quite quickly) that Jean and Berenice have been in another film together, this one. I looked it up and it said this...

Secret agent OSS 117 foils Nazis, beds local beauties, and brings peace to the Middle East.

By far one of the funniest films I've ever seen and it really does prove why Jean got the best actor oscar. He must be one of the most rounded actors there is. Comedy, drama, silence! And Berenice is just damn sexy with that fantastic smile of hers.

The Long Goodbye. I've always had a soft spot for this film; Elliot Gould gives an excellent performance, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger makes an appearance, 8 / 10.

Finally caved under gf pressure to watch the twilight films.

And I'm quite surprised that it wasn't nearly as half as bad as I thought it would be.

7/10 for the 1st Twilight film

You clearly haven't seen breaking dawn, my advice; start an arguement so she watches it by herself and you do something worth doing instead. Terrible boring film.

Drive - 2/10
Based on this forums recommendations I decided to give Drive a go. Really could not get on with it, didn't get past the credits, probably would have worked better as a short film, as in first get away, then end

I thought it was total turd too . Sooooo boring and uninspiring , rubbish sound , rubbish atmosphere , never ever seems like it has any substance

Also the first time I tried I watch (before giving it a full go) I also couldn't be bothered after 20ish minutes

People can accuse me of "omg you want loads of action" if they want but then my favourite film intro is the start of once upon a time in the west . Infanct I could watch that windmill slowly rotating for hours and find it is more interesting than drive.

Just caught up with HD Avatar. Visually amazing, with truly spectacular animation. The ecosystem really did come alive in a believable way (except for the floaty islands), and there were very few moments where i could see the join between real and virtual worlds. great job by the artists and animators.

The same cannot be said for Cameron's plot though. Is he related to George Lucas? ;-)

Män som hatar kvinnor

(The Girl with the dragon tatoo, original 2009 Swedish version)

Subbed, not dubbed.

10/10

Dark, gritty, thoroughly engaging and at times brutal. Not a dull moment, not a single piece of wayward or wasted dialogue.

Probably one of the best films I have seen recently.

Make sure to watch the other 2 films in the trilogy as they are brilliant too.

The Girl who played with Fire
The Girl who kicked the hornets nest

:)

The Swedish original The girl with the dragon tattoo is one of my favourite films. I think it's a modern masterpiece :)

The other two, aren't ~quite as good but definitely worth a watch :)

The Ladykillers - The 2004 Tom Hanks/Coen one not the Alec Guinness 1955 one about a gang of theives planning a big raid while hiding out in a little old lady's house. I had always been torn with this film, as a fan of the Coens and the original I had not watched it before. Then it appeared on I-Player and I thought why not. I liked it and was glad I watched it, it compared well with the original but I still prefer that. Special note to JK Simmons who is simply excellent. 4/5

Immortals

I tend to love fantasy based films based on greek mythology and this was definitely watchable, although had some quite fatal flaws in it and some generally weak acting and even worse plot/character development issues along the way.

Did quite like the end though, although it wasnt quite what I was expecting

7/10
