What film did you watch last night?

Just watched Walter Mitty, was an easy going film, but yet again a predictable ending, seems like these Hollywood writers are lacking in imagination recently.

I'd give it a solid 6/10.

Thor: Dark World - 6/10 tops for me - enjoyed the first one more but even that was one of the weaker Marvel efforts imo.

Robocop (2014) - (a very generous) 6/10 - As a stand alone film it was watchable but anyone who's seen the original will be disappointed! Pointless story line with very poor characters and direction!

This is why I'm not going to make the effort to see the new RoboCop any time soon. Have you seen the remastered version of the original which came out a few weeks ago? It's absolutely astonishing :) And will make the new release seem even more pointless.

No, but I'll have a look for it as I've not seen the original for years!

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad film, it's just a wrong film! (oh and the pure fact that it's a 12a makes it even more so!)

Thing is, what was certified as an 18 in 1987, would probably get through as a 15 under the rules now!

I've seen loads more 'gore' and 'blood squibs' and even swearing/nudity in 12a and 15 cert films in recent times!, trouble being they can 'Re-Certify' the original as people would think they've cut stuff out!

Really? Seeing as Dredd had a fairly similar type of gore and stuff, and that got an 18 a couple of years ago, you really think Robocop would be downgraded :confused:

Wolf of Wall Street, Leo deserves an Oscar for that performance, brilliant! 8/10

Maybe they made two versions and I saw the other one. I got bored about half way through and literally almost fell asleep mid afternoon. The film was far too long with scenes that had no purpose, and even the full frontal nudity felt pointless other than as a cheap thrill. 4/10

Watched a few recently

Thor 2 - not as bad as I was expecting. A thought it just felt like it was lacking anything special about it. Just superhero by numbers. 5.5 out of 10

The selfish giant. - good gritty British film, kind of stuff we have been making well for many a year. 7 out of 10

Enders game. - watched this on A lazy Sunday afternoon and I'll passed a bit of time. Daft and predictable but was harmless enough. 6 out of 10

Sunshine on leith - interested by the proclaimers soundtrack. Quietly enjoyed it actually although didn't let the missus know that :). 6.5 out of 10

Filth - James McAvoy is great in this. What a piece of work. Loud, brash film but very entertaining. 7.5 out of 10

The necessary death of Charlie countryman. - I'd never even heard of this. Just finished watching it as I didn't fancy anything else. Had me hooked from start to finish. Really well filmed with some nasty villains. Mads mikkleson is great in it. And Shia is surprisingly good as well. Defo worth a watch. 8 out of 10
