What game wowed you the most when you first played it?

Something I overlooked was UO. I think it was 98 and I was running on some pos PC world 'pc'. But WoW. I wasted hundreds playing that through dial-up pre-6pm (after 6 my offpeak tariff kicked in). I used to be at work thinking about the game all day and what I'd be up to later - no MMO has had that effect since.
When I first started playing I was using archiac speech due to the setting and reading a lot of fantasy at the time :D.

^^^ OMG i completely forgot!!!! :O i still have it on my pc :) hehe playing on free shards now ofcourse. but yea i remember the bt talk and surf package, 150hours 56k dial up a month from 6pm till 8am and all that marlarky :D hehe the ammount of times i used it all up and we had to use the pay as you go internet for the last few days of the month hehe :D good days :)

My first ISP was called stray duck about 10 years ago, 56k, 1p a minute after 6pm :)

I must've been one of few people in my town with internet, felt a nerd elite, but now even my nan has it and DL's music.

Still, 99% don't know how the internet really works and how dangerous someone who does really is :D

Elite (C64)
Bubble Bobble Co-op (C64)
WizzBall Co-op (C64)
Way of the exploding fist (C64)
Twin Kingdom Valley (V20)
Elite 2 Frontier (Amiga)
Sensible World Of soccer (Amiga)

Mario 64 for sure. It was that 3d has arrived moment that you knew every game from this point on would have to live up to.

Also, Sonic Adventure. The first level was insane, was really impressed with the graphics.

C&C
Goldeneye
Crysis (First played the demo on low on a 7600GT, then got an 8800GT put everything to high, and nearly jumped out my seat when seeing the opening FMV again!)

I still got those with the save disks. SWOS 94/95, 95/96,96/97 got a PC version too i think.

Best players in 1995 for SWOS:

Franco Baresi
George Weah
Guiseppe Signori
Alessandro Costacurta
Alan Shearer

Actually, any player with SCP or SCF :D

I loved Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. It was the first game that had a real story for me, I was desperate to find out where it was going next.

Also the original Tomb Raider for the atmosphere.

Sonic 2
Sonic 3
Super Mario World - The first one with Yoshi in. I still love that game the first time I got Yoshi I was like ZOMG !!! How cool !
Mario 64
Final Fantasy 7
Mario Kart - again the orginal.

Man I loved the Mega Drive / Snes era. So many fond memories :D

Del Piero was a decent little player on that and Desailly was class too. One of my favourite football games of all time that. Do you remember "Welcome to our club, we look forward to much success with this new partnership" scene?

The first game that wowed me and got me into computers was Elite on the beeb. First FPS to blow me away was Doom. I used to play golf games and stuff on my old 386 and one day saw this demo of Doom on the cover of Computer Shoppper of all mags! Installed it and played it with lights off and curtains shut. Didn't leave my room for 3 days......I was hooked.
