What gigs have people got planned for this year then!?

I'm sitting listening to Panopticon, and worried it'll be a bit tiring standing through Isis.
Ice, once again many thanks for the headsup here, you won't have to put your hand in your pocket for drinks come the 13th June I can assure you :).

What's all this about Isis though? I nearly wet myself when I read your post, they supporting or something or am I barking up the wrong neck of the woods? They just happen to be pretty much my favourite band and Panopticon is nothing short of brilliant IMO.

If I've got it wrong then I'll just use this as another opportunity to rant about how good Isis are :D .

Forgot to add: Oceansize were awesome last night, much better and louder than when I saw them last time, and they were pretty damn good then.

The support band were also very impressive, total strangers to Sic and I but we were both grinning broadly by the end of their set, and their female bassist was hot too.

*Mental note*

6 pints of Grolsch in quick succession on an empty stomach is not a good idea.

Isis are meant to be supporting Tool on this tour, but there are rumours that have started recently that they may not be appearing in Europe as they're starting work on new material in June.

That does kind of suck as I don't know who else you'd get to support. Once again another amazing Tool tour doesn't make it to Europe. They've played with QOTSA,The Mars Volta and now Isis, but no such luck for our side of the pond.

I'll actually cry if this rumour doesn't turn out to be true, but Isis are indeed working on their new album (I've been keeping a close eye on their website for a while now) so I'm not holding my breath.

Still, it's enough of a bonus to get tickets at all (thanks again Ice :)) so I'm not gonna lose too much sleep over it (I will lose some though...).

NP man, honestly ;) Hopefully the tickets will be with us by early next week and say something a little more descriptive than 'PLUS SUPPORT'.

Hmmm... I don't think we'll see our tickets until June to be honest. I've bought quite a few conert tickets recently and they all state that you won't get them until 7-10 days before the event, and only to contact them 5 days before the event if you've not had them. I think it's mainly to stop people flogging them on Ebay for vastly increased sums of money, as you clearly could with this gig in particular.

I suppose I haven't bought any through ticketmaster for a while. I used to get them about 5 days after paying, but it's understandable if they've tried to reduce touting by sending them out later. I kind of hope they're a bit commemorative as opposed to just the usual ticketmaster printed stubbs - I'd like something a bit special from Tool.

UPDATE

Got tickets for Spoon at Koko in May. I had never heard of Spoon until a few months ago and they are fast becoming one of my favourite bands.

I've also got tickets for Jackson Browne on Saturday in Bristol and I'm a big fan of his, it should be great.

In the last month i've been to see Death Cab for Cutie which was a nice.

Just got tickets yesterday for 2 Futureheads gigs. One acoustic set at the SAGE and one proper gig at the Newcastle Carling Academy. Both are on the same day, support for both gigs is Field Music. Also got The Concretes, The Arctic Monkeys, and The Charlatans coming up in April. Planning on going to OrangeEvolution on the Quaysidem - bank holiday free festival with Hard Fi headlining :)
