What have you done to your car today?

So have you been in touch with the previous owner?
Been trying to contact previous owner but they won't answer their phone.
He bought it then got rid under 6 months later. I really want to know what he did to the car in that time. What ever it was it wasn't good.

The dealer who sold it to him is the one who has the accessport.
He wants money for it... Which I can understand BUT without the accesstuner software it's useless anyway.

If this isn't fixed within the next 10 days I'm going to reject the car I think.

Another year another MOT passed. Chassis rails will need some attention soon, but that'll be the absolute last thing to touch before it's back to you being a totally solid car

Screw giving them another 10 days, given the trouble you've already had plus the troubles with the Access Port I'd be asking for a refund now

The dealer who wants the money for the accessport. Is this the same dealer you bought the car from? If it is, reject the car and get your money back.

I wouldn't buy from a dealer in my life ever again. Bad experiences and all.

No it's from a dealer who sold it last year.
Different dealer.

I wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner got rid of it because of the issue after buying it with the fault. I would try and get the car put back on the stock map as you don't know what mods have been mapped in that may have been removed from the car.

Thought it was a one careful elderly owner? Or whatever crap the dealer put on the advert.
Didn't it have a replacement turbo even though it's only on 50k aswell? Sounds dodgy just reject it! 10k is a lot of money for a car that could cause you constant headaches and niggles

Bought a new engine for it. :p

Best Acme buy ever, legendary. 2 weeks into ownership, bought a new engine. 70K miles, identical engine code from another Eunos MK1, some history with it, £165 including shipping... Even comes with the gearbox.

Also discovered that it spits massive flames if you flatfoot it. Awesome. :D

Bet it wont do that with the new engine unless I advance the timing like this one. :(

Good stuff now have a go at fitting it - it's nothing like as difficult as you may think if you've got a couple of people and take time labelling things up etc

Someone has generously offered to help, who has done it numerous times. I will be paying very close attention and getting them to tell me to do lots of it. :p

In other news, I got pulled over and FPN'd for my daft small front numberplate. :o

Had a good chat and a laugh with the traffic officers though, to be honest if I hadn't been fined I would have said it was a novel experience.

I had only gone out for 5 minutes to see what the smokescreen situation was like before sticking it on the drive and checking the levels, they had a good laugh at my misfortune. :p

They did try and claim that pressed metal/bubble plates are illegal though which I questioned, but didn't particularly want to argue about. I'm 99% sure they are completely legal as long as they conform to all of the letter sizing, spacing, reflectiveness, stamping etc guidelines. No?

You must be incredibly unlucky. I regularly see all manner of dodgy plates....bad spacing, screws used to form characters, plates missing entirely, dodgy fonts, yet never hear of anyone getting pulled for it. But you get a fine just for having a smaller than standard plate, which I think is probably the most minor offence when it comes to numberplates.

The plates must be made of a retroreflecting material. Steel isn't, so it's not legal on a modern car. ANPR cameras struggle with pressed plates, too, from what I understand.

It is steel with a reflective film over the top. Just like cheap plates are plastic with a reflective film over the top. Are those also illegal? In the 70's and 80's cars had pressed steel yellow and white plates too. Is the issue the material or the raised characters? Gel plates are made of a reflective material but have raised characters. Cheap plates don't have raised characters but are also not made of a reflective material.

Is that gracious someone your uber father? A photo log would be really interesting if you have the time.

You must be joking, no it's not him. He has come over all unhelpful again. Denying any knowledge of offering to help. The usual... I'm used to it.

I will try and take pictures but it's more of a get it out and in in a day sort of thing so I probably won't have time. I could stick a drift Cam to the side of my head I guess...

I never got pulled once for my metal pressed German font and styled plates. Even when I was seen on numerous occasions by the traffic plod.

Exactly a year since I first drove the MX5 with boost.

Down to the last few bits to do now before it's completely solid and where I'll be completely happy.

Real quarters need painting, chassis rails need some repair work and it could really do with an LSD.
