What have you done to your car today?

So where do I begin...

My A/C lost pressure due to a leak, after several checks finally found the culprit. The high pressure switch was faulty and was the cause of the leak. Wrong switches were sent from ECP and Bullseye , so had to order from VW themselves, the next day switch fitted and A/C refilled... Fixed!

Next was my thermostat, that needed doing for months so thought may as well get it done. Found a reputable garage, £130 supplied and fitted, great! So I thought, they fitted it etc without issue. I picked it up, went shopping and then home. Next morning, I set off to work at 4am, got about 2 miles down the road and then I got a "Warning, Coolant Low, CHECK". So pulled up, no coolant in the car! Got my dad to take it back first thing that morning, they did another pressure check and found a slight leak on one of the joints, completely fixed it now. So happy! :p

Now, I kept hearing a squeal, thought it was the belt but it wasn't a constant squeal that got louder/faster when driving. Pulled up on my drive last night, EML light is on. Scanned it with my OBDEleven, got 2 codes that related to my PCV Valve. Watched a video and the exact noise it showed is what I was hearing!

So now I'm on my way to the dealers to order a new PCV Valve!

FML!

Haha, yeah, these all seem to be common faults on a MK5 GTI.

£60 for the new PCV Valve and gasket and 15 minutes putting it on. My care is now back to a happy car. :D

Let's see what comes next!

Took my car back to the garage for them to look at the uneven brake disc/pad wear on the right rear.

I had pads and discs done and then the right rear caliper was seized, had it replaced quickly as I didn't want to knacker the new pads/discs,, but after this there was a ring of corrosion around the disc that refused to go away. I suspected uneven pad wear whilst the caliper was dead.... Anyway, the garage has had it back and sanded the pads flat again as they said they had worn at an angle, hence not fully contacting the disc. Hopefully now this has been done I can stick a few more miles on the car and the corrosion will be wiped off the disc properly through use.

Just had some guy try 'racing' me in a 320D and then getting extra salty when he tried to out accelerate me and waving his arms in the air giving me the finger when I overtook him on a straight road.....Strange.

I get that in my 235i..... mostly young lads in older 320d's or 118i/d's etc.... makes me smile :)

Why would they even try against a 235i! He had the proper dark sunglasses on and everything, he certainly looked like the average stereotypical BMW driver ;) would have made him rage even more if he knew the car was a 1.3L :D

What car were you driving? Gotta love the 320d and 116d brigade they all seem to think they are driving an untouchable performance car because of the mega torquezzz that lasts all of 3000 revs.

Yea I get people in low end BMW diesels try to race me all the time lol. It's pretty funny :p

They seem to love to debadge them and make it look like it's something it's not. But there's no hiding the cloud of soot and tractor sound.

Just seems to be diesel owners in general, get it all the time especially in the Mustang and 9/10 I just don't bother, I just give them a rev, no need to do anything else. :D

Though a MK2 Focus RS was on my tail today kept doing the accelerate up to my ass and go whoosh bang to try and bait me, well I bit, haha, he pulled alongside couple miles down road and was like jesus what is under the bonnet, my response a V8. :D

Probably. I saw someone in a diesel Passat blatently jump the lights on a big and busy crossroads and then undercut a bunch of people on roundabout yesterday. I think the diesel fumes must be effecting their brains.
