What have you done to your car today?

It can't be helped when the induction noise is so good :p

18k on the front of any BMW is not standard, that's absolutely insane!

Seems fairly usual (give or take depending on driving conditions) if you look around other forums where tyre life is talked about as far as Continentals are concerned. Up to 15k for the rears, many saying they got around 12k, one guy on 17k but says the rears are "bald"....

I guess if I just drove "normally" things would be better, or I could just get a longer lasting tyre and not worry about it :p

I'm going to get the alignment done as it's been like a year since the last one, makes sense given new tyres too. Always gone to ProTyre before but Denmead Tyres come highly rated on PH. so I'll drop by there soon.

I've always found that the wear rate of the fronts on a BMW is about 40% of the wear rate on the rear, so you'll do at least two rears for every front. Whilst obviously the M3 is more powerful if anything that should make it chew through more rears per front.

Perhaps the continentals are made of cheese :D

I was hoping they were not, well granted they last longer than what CSC5s last from everything I've read having not had the 5s, only the 6, but my experience is that Michelin UHP tyres have always outlasted the competition by a fair margin, and early user comments suggest the PS4 S last just as long, if not longer than the PSS. So that's good!

Bumper off, nearside xenon ballast replaced, and both bulbs work again! When I took the old one off it was flooded with water... so that explains why it died then!

I dropped the MPS off to a chap who's going to do the following for me whilst I'm on holiday:
Fit a Sports catted downpipe
Replace thermostat and coolant.
Change arb bushes
And have a look for some knocks that I'm hearing.

He has 15 days with it. :D

A track day or two will change that quite rapidly though, you'll wear fronts so much faster than on the road

To date I've always gone through two pairs of rears for every pair of fronts^, on the 318Ci this was also certainly the case, but recall getting 30k from the fronts and 22k~ rears on that car by comparison (PS2, then F1 AS2 toward the last couple of years).

Got some axle tramp while being immature in a car park. Left a trail of small rot chunks all over the tarmac.

That's one way to simplify and add lightness I suppose. :p

So thought I would pop it out for a quick warm up before a much needed wash/hoover and 1 mile from home....

Then my local Kwik Fit could not any of their own jacks under the car, so had to ask the wife to bring my own trolly jack down!!

You can see why I was going to give it a clean. Sadly after this it needed thrashing so the wash will need to wait as I had to use a tank of fuel. Sorry to anyone living in Shropshire, that sonic boom was me, but I learned it good.
