What have you done to your car today?

The way I see it, if you can get a second hand Karbonius airbox, you're likely to lose nothing on it as you can just sell it for the same price whenever you're done with it. The secondhand carbon airbox market will always be strong on the E46's! Have you seen how quickly/much the second hand Eventuri's sell for?!

The Karbonius ones are only £1400 or so brand new (+misc bolts and nuts) and I can fit it myself, but the only thing that keeps me from doing it is the fact I have to get someone to mess around with the software. This is A) expensive B) I worry that I'll lose the everyday drive ability of the car.

Oh, how I have missed selling cars.

Buyer 1: English guy living in Antibes, turns up in a Continental GT. Loves the car, "best one I've ever seen" etc etc, doesn't argue about the price, is buying it as a second car and tells me it's absolutely perfect and exactly what he's been looking for. Leaves promising he'll call that night, never calls, phone goes to voicemail.

Buyer 2: French guy who turns up and immediately asks how many km it has. Always a good start considering it's in the main part of the ad. He then proceeds to tell me it definitely wasn't in the ad, and he didn't know it was on UK plates either. I pull up the ad on my phone to show him that in fact both things were clearly stated (in French) in the ad, he says "hmmm" and then leaves.

Buyer 3: Another French guy, asks me loads of questions via email, asks for pictures of all the history, receipts etc etc. Like the first guy, tells me how great the condition looks. Promises he'll come the day after with the cash, never turns up. Message him at 10PM, he replies saying he'll 100% let me know the day after exactly what day he's coming and he's desperate to buy the car, so please don't sell it to anyone else. Never calls me again.

#winning

What are you buying next? :p

Why haven't the Chinese started copying the CSL intake? It's not like it is expensive to make. I can get a genuine TTE ex WRC intake for a lot less than that and that is also Carbon Fibre. M Scene tax!

I am sure if you could produce them even for £500 they would sell like hot cakes.

I have customers like this....

Book their devices in for repair, then either block my number or never turn up on their booked slot.

I find that if it's an expensive job, I can weed out people like this by asking for a deposit lol

Doesn't have to be carbon fiber either surely? If you make it out of something cheaper but replicate the shape exactly, it should have exactly the same effect, no?

Manually laying wet carbon would be pretty laborious to get it right, even with one to copy from... so I can see where the 3k comes from, but even sending off the destructions to china to build them would be costly and it could be pretty naff compared.

Carbon fibre gives it the noise, resonates sound better, plastic just doesn't cut it for the same sound.

Plus carbon fibre looks so good.

I think carbon fibre increases the noise.. but I wonder how differnet it would be made out of plastic?

The standard plenum is plastic and is very muted by comparison.

To be honest, although the CF airbox that Evolve charge is meant to be almost perfect, the £3000 that they charge is pretty mad. Karbonius ones are reported to be high quality and very well designed, yet they only charge £1300.

The Genuine BMW ones are about £5000
