just out of a 120k major service, all belts all fluids including gearbox oil. brakes etc etc. worst job being a headlight bulb change, utter sod of a job on a mk5 Mondeo. garage gave it a quick mop gave the calipers a coat of high temp paint and left her looking rather nice :) excuse the rubbish pic.

next up wheel refurb and some new Michelins.

After filling it up at the petrol station walking straight passed the fuel cap to put the nozzle back and ripping it straight off - not my fault of course!

Engine Management light came on on the way home... stopped off at Mercedes to see if they could do anything there and then - have to wait until 8th March due to loan car availability. Rang the Mobilo Life number when I got home - someone will be out within 90 minutes.

No idea what it is though. I can't really tell if the engine sounds different due to how well insulated Mercs are.

You need an OBD2 reader, costs about £7 off eBay, blue jobby. Then get Torque (lite is free) app on your phone to read the error.code.

Mobilo sent the RAC out to me. Codes 0064 and 0060 which is the solenoids which control the VVT from a quick google. Not sure how much it's gonna cost to fix, the solenoids are quite inexpensive and maybe a couple of hours labour? Anyway, he rang Mercedes and they've said to only drive it to the dealers in the morning and they'll arrange a hire car for me so I can get to work until it's fixed.

It is yeah, auto with mark levison sound system, heated/cooled leather, sat nav, rear blind etc.. think it's pretty much fully loaded.

Loads of car for 4.4k that I paid for it.

Good stuff, you'll have to let me have a nosey somewhen (please <3) because I was considering those as a daily option a while back... Curious...

Apparently the auto box is really slow to respond to the flappy paddles, rendering them ornamental only though?

I know somebody who used to own a 350 and I recall he changed them himself, but then he is quite handy with spanners.

Do you have a specialist near you? Might be worth ringing around for a quote. In my experience Merc weren't *that* bad though.

Did you take out the warranty?

Edit - he reckons it should be about an hour labour. Not particularly difficult but needs a tool to get around a fiddly bit.
