What have you done to your car today?

How'd you do it if you dont mind me asking? Mine is fine at the moment but I'm sure it will need it somewhen.
I doubt it will if you change your antifreeze properly every 5 years or so.

But I basically got some 16mm 5/8 clear PVC tube and some Wynns radiator flush (didn't even use 1/8th of the bottle) and filled the matrix with it along with slightly warm water, I then let it sit for 10 mins and flushed it through with some cold water from the hose on low pressure. I then blew it all out with the compressor on a lowish setting (didn't want my matrix going through the dash from the air pressure :D) I then re-did the procedure and then connected it all back up and it's red hot air again.

Had a facepalm :o moment when I felt the passenger side carpet and realised it was wet as I was checking if the matrix leaked due to rad-weld being used in the past, only to realise the hose had moved over the bulkhead fitting and was pushing water inside the firewall lmao.

On the 1st flush a load of red/rust coloured gunk came out, I continued as above until clear water was flowing nicely :)

Next up is to fix the seats and the pin (seems to go on one side), I have some 8.8 M6 threaded bar and will drill/tap a hole in the U shaped lift bar and do it that way, I have seen online that some people drill through the entire handle which I don't want to do, I want it to look factory as I'm OCD like that.

When I bought the car the drivers seat was only locked on one side and it moved on the other when braking and accelerating. Turns out some ***** had stuck a small bolt to stop the locking mechanism from going down on one side so you could move the seat for so called 'MOT' purposes. Go figure, it passed MOT as the seat could move but ignores the fact that in a crash the seat would break and propel you into the airbag at god knows how many G force. MOT is a joke in some respects.

Ahh yes the seat pins...

Toyota slacking in the seat department, what a dumb decision when you look at the 3mm taper the slider pins come to. I bet a Jap never designed those seats!

Just took the Glanza V out to go to the shops and nearly pooped myself after not driving it for 2 week's :D a smile a minute ........ @Acme You should get one as they are mega cheap, it makes the Corolla T sport seem like a tank (which it is) :D I have honestly never driven a car that makes me grin like a child when driving it apart from the Starlet, you can destroy so many high value modern cars on the road that it's hilarious. Best thing is when they pull up and ask you 'whats that thing got in it' and you say 1.3L. Their face is always priceless.

Replaced the fogged up stock indicators with these smoked ones, do think that they work well with blue paint...

Need to get those filthy side reflectors done now, they soak up dirt for some reason!

Nah he's a little bitch. :p
Ooooooo controversial hahal Get a Starlet GT turbo MK2 or a Glanza V before they go up in price! It will beat a MX5 all day long with half the cost :D ......Says the guy who has sank 4K + 2K into his Glanza V, worth every penny haha.

Im aiming for 320bhp in a car that weighs 870KG.....Well worth it....My gearbox is spot on with a Quaife lsd, just be careful on the 3rd gear wheel spin in the dry......HAHA :D

Long term plan is to turbo the E30 once its de-rotted and has had a few other little bits sorted. (talking probably a couple of years from now).

Cost will be in the £2500 - £3000 region for everything including turbo, manifold, FMIC, injectors, pipework, head bolts, uprated clutch, management, engine mounts, and tuning time. Which honestly, I think is ridiculously cheap to go from 170HP to 420HP~.

That would put me about £8000 deep into the car but £8K for a 400HP RWD straight 6 80's BMW estate seems like good value to me... haha

LMAO de-rotted I like that haha......So basically your gonna run the straight 6 from the M3? Even better would to get the CSL version!

Nonono, standard M20B25 with a lorry turbo of course! ;) Cant ruin it with an incorrect engine! haha

Note the throttle cable, its not super bad turbo lag, he just isn't laying into the throttle straight away. This is about 350HP I think:

The Corolla is a good daily. Reasonably practical and comfortable, few creature comforts, not great on fuel but will almost nudge 40MPG on a long run, seems bulletproof, and is fairly rapid. Thinl it would be sensible for me to keep it and focus my efforts on the weekend car! :p

...until you get to a corner. At 320bhp surely it'll just torque steer like mad?

Edit - yes they comment in the video that essentially it's all about controlling the torque steer. So the MX-5 would probably paste it on track :)

I’ve been quoted £445 by Halfords for new brake disks and pads, this seems really expensive, is it something I can do myself?

Car is a 2008 Vauxhall Astra H.

That is ridiculous.. yes it's not difficult imo and you should be able to source all the parts from eurocarparts. Check for voucher codes too. YouTube will probably have a tutorial on how to do it.

I swapped all disks and pads for way less than £200 when I had a Astra VXR (H). So yeah, expensive if you can do them your self. Pretty simple task and you will find plenty of guides.

I’ve just picked the car up and have a report of work needed, front discs and pads = £298.

Rear discs and pads = £259.

They quoted me £445 so would knock £105 off, I’ve checked eurocarparts and can get 4 discs and pads for £149 delivered depending on which brand I go for.
