What have you done to your car today?

Ah that wouldn't have been an issue for me. I originally took my policy out on a stock MX5 then fitted the turbo kit drove it a few months @ 200bhp then increased it in stages

They're an odd company, I've always found them really quite rude on the phone and usually uncompetitive if I can even get a quote. Having said that I used to find Chris Knott constantly expensive then one year the price worked for me and they were a brilliant company to deal with once on policy. Possibly the only insurer i havent haggled with at renewal time as they were just so much cheaper than anyone else. I imagine most of the specialist insurers are good to deal with once they actually have you insured as it's partly how they will keep business.

It's funny how different people's experiences of the same company can be.

They've always been really good on the phone and given the best quote 3 years in a row now. Last renewal I gave up shopping around after speaking to A-Plan seemed to struggle to understand what the car actually is now

I'll be giving greenlight a ring, don't know if they'll classify my z4 coupe as a powerful sports car and want to insure my mx5 but worth a try. I've heard a lot of good things about them

You'll have no issues with insuring the MX5 with them, I went from a 90hp estate to the MX5. The Z4 on the other hand they won't touch, blanket no BMWs rule

Oh, should be fine then. Z4 is long gone, got a lexus now but it's not modified and I can insure it through work for pennies. Work place won't touch modded cars sadly so mx5 needs to go somewhere else. I'm with admiral now on multicar and they're alright but won't pay out for mods.

Who do you actually work for?

I work for a company that makes insurance quoting software for brokers.

Ah cool. Not a company I have any dealings with sadly, so we won't ever cross paths in the world of work. That would have been amusing. :p

I work for Applied Systems.

I was hoping you worked for Allianz so I could moan at you about your data servers always being broken and your scheme rules being poorly written... :p

Lol, would be amusing indeed! :D "this mx5 licker.."

Took the Golf GT for new front tyres this morning. A pair of 17" Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tyres for £80 a corner fitted wasn't too bad I thought.

New centre caps

Nice.

I thought you had painted alloys - this look diamond cut and sguby?

Took the rear passenger brake disc off to see what is making the scraping type noise, suspecting it was something to do with handbrake shoes. Couldn't see anything wrong with it. Put it back together and now find the sound is more of a squeak/creak when the rear suspension is unsettled over any road imperfection, this has possibly become more pronounced after straining the area when jacking the car up.

Looks to be one of the control arm bushings needing to be greased. May look into making a small hole in it and squirting some silicone lube inside it.

Did a purely cosmetic mod I've intended to do for a while - installed wheel spacers. Eibach, hubcentric 20mm rear, 15mm front.
Unfortunately, it was getting dark before I finished, so a crap comparison pic, but it gives the car a nicer (hashtag)stance and makes the wheels fill the arches more nicely. You can get the same effect with aftermarket wheels and lowering, but I like the OEM wheels now they are a single colour, and I'd like to keep the suspension stock.

that fake carbon splitter looks terrible lol.

I had a simple mate black and it looked alright on my z4! :)
This is way I wanted it on had 'fun' taking off attached M3 tape used my spare spoiler tape both sides plus on standard plastic like lip.
Now I can scrape. You can see where i cracked bumper from scraping that damn curb every time i drive out :/

And as I expected Idle is much better :)
Need to get that plenum sorted. But thats a job when I get 8mm spacer and take it off.
Hammerite like my rocker cover on DC2 or polish like on EG6.
