What have you done to your car today?

My 14+ year old car passed/went through it's MOT and service with no advisories and nothing to report.

Was very happy.

:D

I ordered the glass that @russell664 linked. Screw it. I've done harder jobs on cars.

if you have windscreen cover then its a no fault claim and apart from the windscreen excess it doesnt effect future premiums , used to do it for a living , just ring up auto glass give them your policy number and they will check, believe me if its not insured they will soon tell you. and you should get 24 hour covererage. it may be different if your third party as you may have to take it out seperately, but always been fully comp .

Loved the floating discs on my old 55. Less expensive than they used to be, think I paid £500 a corner back in the day.

Yeah they look pretty cool, as far as brake discs can! MB main dealers still want £500 a corner for these, but manage to source the identical Brembo parts for £530 for the pair from Germany (£420 for the parts, then £110 for import customs/VAT charges - thanks Brexit).

My near 20yr old went through mot today, as usual used my garage in Yorkshire, headlight fail, buffed up for me, rear brake fail, sorted, my very slight drone on a left turn advised as very early drivers front wheel bearing (replaced) , final bill £175 including mot fee, pleased with that tbh

My M135i went back to BMW yesterday for them to fix the rear bumper scratches they tried to cover up when they sold it to me. I had concerns from the advert photos which I was assured would be resolved before I bought it. Looked fine when I collected it. It’s now been properly cleaned and sure enough those scratches that I was concerned about are indeed still there…

So yeah, we’ll see how this plays out.

Is there significantly more labour time in that, versus windscreens ?
from DIY, on side window problems, it's very finicky, and easy to break stuff/clips.

They probably used that coloured t-cut stuff that's come off in a wash...

Not today but recently fitted some wind deflectors to my Civic Tourer and some new reg plates because the old ones were looking a bit crusty. Also new wipers and air and cabin filters.

Only just realised what the netting in the boot was for that seals off the cabin so fitted that and it came in handy for a trip away.

Cleaned it inside and out and applied wet wax

Went to a local hand wash yesterday and then gave the whole car a cursory vacuum when I got home as I'd just been carrying loads of horrible timber and rubble from our sooty loft to the recycling centre. Today I will replace the battery in both of the key fobs.

Still can't wait to get smaller wheels but I can't drop £900 yet as we're still waiting for a mortgage and house sale/purchase etc to go through.

Been using it! The most impressive thing is the speed you can carry through the corners. The grip from the Avon ZZS (when it's hot and dry) is incredible. Amazing piece of kit, and mine's only the lowly 270. The 420/620 Caterhams must be absolutely ******* ballistic!

To be fair my mates Superlight on the ZZS (150bhp Sigma) is impressive on the back roads. Another has the 620r and says the Superlight was the best one he owned as you can actually use the power! On track, 620r every time.

Sounds about right. I've got the 136 Sigma. I suppose I could upgrade to the 150bhp in a few year's time but honestly, much more power like a 360 or 420 would be overkill. I agree that on track, it's a whole other story, but on back roads and zipping around, it's great. Chuffed to bits :)

Unfortunately I live in a very densely populated area, so in order to go out into the sticks away from towns and cities, it's a bit of a trek, but for a quick blat when the traffic's thin, it's good to clear the head from the stresses of everyday life :D

I wouldn't bother, I doubt the uplift would be worth it! Although the noise from the ITBs on the Sigma is pretty glorious, ngl. I think around 200bhp-230bhp is about as much as you'll never want in a Caterham. I've been out in the Superlight over a dozen times now, and honestly there's not many places you can really push that car hard as it stands, leave alone something like a 420 or 620r lol

Depending on what your BMW head unit is, you can code the car to display the BMW interface with split screen options, as it would for the 8.8" screen.

Can only be done on certain cars though. You need to have HU_ENTRYNAV (confusingly there are two versions of ENTRYNAV, with and without navigation). You may be able find out what you should have here: https://www.bimmer-tech.net/blog/item/101-basic-bmw-navigation but might be worth confirming elsewhere too.

My car is a late 2014 manufacture and came with HU_ENTRYNAV without navigation. I swapped my screen out for a 10.25" Android one and coded the BMW HU to give me split screen and full screen display and it works great :)
