What have you done to your car today?

Bolted the rebuilt wiper motor back in l'ID19. Just gotta finish the loom I'm making for it and we'll have fully-functioning windscreen wipers for the first time in our ownership of the car

Any recommendations for an Android double din headunit? Preferably Bluetooth (even better if I can connect to the factory mic) and with steering controls.
Don't care about reversing cameras or parking sensors... because I have eyes..., or bothered about Android Auto, or boot times.
Cheaper the better, natch.
Have a check on AliExpress - there's stuff from £45 depending on spec

Does a van count? :D

I bought this van as a second run around come new house work horse come race van. It was cheap enough and has served me well, but I've been spoilt by the upgraded audio on my previous cars and what was already fitted was awful.

I figured a pair of component speakers and a headunit powerful enough to drive them without an amp would be a good shout.

The result overall is pretty good now, I just need a tiny little sub to fill in the lows.

They came with some sound deadning, which I combined with what I had laying around the garage to add to all the large panels in the back of the van to hopefully quieten things down a little. I think a Bulkhead will be the better solution long term, but this will do for now;

Tried out machine polishing using my rusty old shed as practise using a cordless Makita and Rupes DA fine. Didn't do a bad job considering it's nearly 27 years old, never garaged and done 196k. Gave it a coat of Fusso wax once done.

Just to add to this - glass is now in. Took me about two hours, a good portion of which revolved around vacuuming up what was left of the old window :(

The battery is flat now because it's 12 years old, and the door was open the entire time I was working on the car, and I'm a lazy dumbass who didn't disconnect the battery while doing the job because a) I needed to move the window mechanism around a bit using the switch and b) I couldn't be bothered disconnecting and reconnecting to do that. So it's going on a charger in the morning and hopefully will be right as rain some time in the afternoon :)

***edit***

Fired right up after charging for the morning. Definitely going to need a new battery this winter.
Awesome, glad yiu got it all sorted mate. :)

After using the TV box as a door protector in the garage for the FD2, I thought the same might work for the M3, however it's wider so I had to come up with another solution. I bought some adhesive wall protector and it's worked really well. I have an old rug I'll screw onto the wall if the adhesive fails which I suspect it may do given it's on bare brick.

I did a similar thing but I used rear floor mats screwed to the wall.

As you cannot buy a single drivers side which always wears through the rears are always mint. Even with kids. I must have a collection of at least 8-10 sets of rear mats. Use them when working on the car or in the garden etc.

The tray in the Elise came without anything in the trinket tray to stop things sliding about, which got annoying on the drive back from the dealer as everything kept hitting each side.

Managed to find we had some non-slip matting in the garage so cut some up and installed it to hopefully stop things moving about as much!

Without reading the post I thought this was a general garage clearance shot

Pipe insulator along the wall where the door meets the wall. Pretty sure that’s what my dad did when he was faced with a similar problem. It’s thick and sturdy, so protects the doors well. He might have cut it along it’s length, can’t remember.

Ordered a un dented bonnet for the T Reg E39 M5.
Then off to get it painted next week.
Having some rust patches sorted at the same time.

Not many unmolested stock ones about.

my nearly 13 year old Ford has sailed through its MOT today, no advisories!! :)

My 26 year old Lexus just had tyres and a numberplate advised. I replaced them all and got a lovely clean pass!

Or I would have if the now mysteriously missing MOT tester had bothered to check that I'd replaced the plate. :o

Replaced the Nautilus air horn on the mx5 which had stopped working, I think water may have got in there. I might make a bracket to reorient it so the horns face downward rather than forward.

Also changed the oil and oil filter, not scheduled until October but just more convenient to do it now, with the front end being up on stands.
