What have you done to your car today?

Personally prefer that interior - I think a lot of Mercedes the interior is too try hard - it has nice clean lines without random bling thrown in for the sake of it.

Paid for a mobile 2-stage/wax machine polish on my Jag. He cleaned, clay-barred, 2-stage and wax on each panel and the car looks great for a six-year-old car.

Does the screen actually face the driver now? My pet hate in those mercs, the screen is small and it's almost like it's pointing away from you.

Would look a bit weird having a screen centre of dash pointing at driver? Don't think I've seen anything like that. The size of old one made this an issue I'd agree, new one is fine to use positioned centrally due to size.

I sold my motor some time back, but I had a project (Mk.III Capri) locked away in a garage that I never got around to working on past stripping it down and cleaning it. As of today, that is gone too and I'm completely sans car.

One of the things I really don't like about Mercs - the screen looks like someone slapped a tablet in last minute - not what I expect from a prestigious car - more acceptable on something like a Kia or Hyundai or something.

Who was first, BMW or SAAB? I guess SAAB went properly OTT on the angling a la fighter jet.

I think they both go way back - even an E21 had the centre console aimed at the driver. So in guess in that respect the screen being aimed at the driver was a consequence of their tradition of aiming the centre console at drivers.

Purchased a 2017 Gla45. Not a huge fan of the dated interior, but love the new mercedes interior/ambient lighting so wanted to try a few things to replicate that.
Changed the screen to a tablet basically, a lot larger, touch screen and customisable. Thought i'd add some ambient lighting to the panels as well at this point.

Do you have more info on the screen swap, I have GLA with the smaller screen and interested in this.

Did the pulley's on the 204 C63 a while ago. Fairly easy job to do, the only annoying bit was removing the fan, but apart from that, easy as pie. You've got loads of space to work once you get rid of the fan and the OEM parts are dirt cheap. The genuine ones are all made by Gates, INA or Febi and if you buy them from MB, they're about 4x the price of just buying them from Gates, INA or Febi.

Pulley on the left, Genuine Mercedes at a cost of £140inc VAT. Pulley on the right was an OEM Gates pulley at a cost of £35. Note the tactical grinding off of the AMG logo and MB part number. So the extra £105 for the MB part gets you an MB branded cardboard box that it comes in. Well played Mercedes, well played.
Interesting, never seen such blatant removal of the logo on 3rd party parts!

Yeh i've seen it numerous times now from working on my various cars! So blatant and there is *such* a mark up on Genuine parts

Every BMW with a screen has it aimed towards the driver.

Wouldn't know as never sat in one :D Not a fan of BMW interiors, have looked pretty meh and samey for many years now imo.

Looking at photos it's pretty subtle isn't it? I was imagining my screen at quite a large angle when answering original question which it definitely isn't, but does favour pointing towards the driver more than passenger slightly

Yes and that makes a huge difference.
