What have you done to your car today?

I'd used similar 80/20 on Euro's -15,
but, if its ethylene glycol based https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/ethylene-glycol-d_146.html
if I dilute it 80/20 would reduce 30% concentration to 7.5 which might give -3C, so probably explains why bottle had frozen. even 50:50 might be 'only' -6C
swapping to try polygard arctic -20, where you can/COSH at least confirm methanol percentage should match advertising , new freeze anticipated in january.
may flush the Euros' -15 first since you never know if the two are same base/miscible.
...

3 series coolant - bought the eurocarparts triple x blue coolant last time, which meets same spec as BMW's

Likely written it off! I was smashed into by another driver head on, the front offside is a wreck and it's quite difficult to open/close the rear door so I think the chassis is damaged.
I'm thankful for seat belts and air bags!

Stop driving on the wrong side of the road then?

Hopefully you're alright!

Picked my car up today. Can't see a mark from the accident at all. Happy days :)
Now to look into the water leak, check if the oil leak I got repaired last week is gone, ordered some new headlight bulbs.... the list goes on ;)

Wife came home to say the rear wiper was playing up… the wire in the boot cut where it goes in:out the hatch.

Soldered in a short repair section but reading up its often repaired:replaced and plenty of kits online. I’ll order one ready to go, the replacements just crimp which should be quicker/easier to do as well.

The headlight lens weather gaskets arrived and now installed.

Needing to get back on the road quickly with something that is economical and has a good amount of space, I've bought a Fiat 500L MPW.
Handles exactly as I thought it would, like a van. Can't moan about the £20/year tax, insurance group or mpg.

Quiet at work today, so ordered a couple of tyres for the front this morning and fitted them this afternoon..

The alloys needed bit of clean up as one had a slight rim leak..

I then used some bead seal and they're fully air tight now.

I live out in the sticks and when there's heavy rain the lanes flood and there's plenty of mud on the road also, so thought i'd try the Rainsport 5, and for £56 each I reckon they're worth a punt.

Some minor progress on the MR2. Kept it inside at work over the Christmas period, left all the doors and boot etc open to let it air out and dry out, it was getting a little damp but nothing too bad.

Been into work yesterday and today to do a few jobs to get started on it. First thing was something that everyone mentions on MR2 groups, which is to remove the foam from inside the bottom of the rear quarters, which as you can imagine just hold moisture and cause corrosion. Not bad of a job, just involves removing the side panels behind the seats then removing the seat belt mechanism and the mini amplifiers for the rear subs.

First side wasn't too bad, some minor corrosion but nothing serious. Coated with some rust treatment for now, will slow it down if nothing else.

The other side was a fair bit worse though. I forgot to grab a pic of down in the gap but the original 1" hole has definitely opened up somewhat. Not a massive concern as it's not causing any real harm, plus it can't be seen. It will be something that's addressed in future when it has new sills fitted. Honestly not upset by it at all though, for a mid 90's Jap car it's not terrible on the rust front at all, especially for having sat on a drive for 7 years too.

The other thing I've been sorting is the exhaust. I do plan on replacing the rear box with a Mongoose, but the downpipe and cat needed sorting. The downpipe had a nice blow to it, so peeled back the heat shield and found it had broken off completely just before the flex, no idea why, I guess the metal just got thin enough to be weaker than the flex.

So removed the downpipe, not before breaking off all 3 studs into the manifold, and having to cut the bolts off to the cat. Cut out the thin steel and welded in a new bit of tube. Should hold up fine I think.

Heat shield back on and you'd never know :)

That's about as far as I got. I got two studs out of the manifold and had to start drilling the third, but ran out of time in the end. Next step I need to order some new gaskets, studs and a flange, and then I can make a decat pipe up and put it all back together. I nearly bought a new downpipe as they're only around £75, but then I figured I'd rather repair the original as it's still perfectly serviceable. Plus aftermarket exhaust parts are generally a terrible fit.

Some Gummi Pfledge will help protect the rubber and keep it supple
Already been doing this for years! Sadly 17 year old rubber in an area of the car that gets the most battering from the elements and salt water etc is only ever going to last so long.

On the subject of the Euro Car Parts screen wash, what mix do you use? There’s no instructions on there so I took a gamble with a 50/50 mix for my wife’s car but on a couple of days last week no screen wash came out despite the car having heated washer jets. I then emptied about a litre out and topped off with pure screen wash so that made it more like an 80/20 mix and still had the same problem on another day.

went for polygard ~£7/each methanol bases ... so hopefully able to drive the car in next freeze .. if it doesn't have a reaction with older ECP -15

Took the Focus out for a thrash in 3rd and 4th (Powershift) to get it to regen the DPF -would it have -not on your life. So filled up and put some addative in tank.

Got some expensive pieces of foam aka race ramps:

Gonna do Diff oil change later today or in the week.

Anyone got any recommendations for a mat to work on please?

About the going rate for a repair these days unfortunately,

New tyre would be cheap as only 15" wheels on my Fiesta
doesn’t help you now, but Arnold Clark do free tyre repairs. May be worth knowing in the future based on how many pot holes there are!

Just get yourself some of those interlinking foam floor tiles Andy. Halfords sell them and I even think the exact same thing is sold as a kids toy at B&M, haha. At least you won't lose your tools amongst all those bright colours.

I usually lay down a 2x2 grid for working under a car and they are great. If you need more support just put another layer on top but compared to working on a hard tarmac surface they are amazing. I think 6 tiles is about £15.
