What have you done to your car today?

Just get yourself some of those interlinking foam floor tiles Andy. Halfords sell them and I even think the exact same thing is sold as a kids toy at B&M, haha. At least you won't lose your tools amongst all those bright colours.

I usually lay down a 2x2 grid for working under a car and they are great. If you need more support just put another layer on top but compared to working on a hard tarmac surface they are amazing. I think 6 tiles is about £15.
I've got a tonne of them because of the little one and you're absolutely right. Check Facebook marketplace, parents normally end up accumulating a load for whatever reason (they come with play pen barriers and other bits).

Got some expensive pieces of foam aka race ramps:
interesting you've removed the ramps you used to pull onto them ? or it's jacked, and they are inserted under tyres, nice clearance, though
... just use cardboard to lay on, with extra layers under the boiler suit for comfort

...........
After freeze
after spending a couple of hours yesterday cleaning bike drive train after the dam salt on the roads (smooth as silk this am), does make me think I should do an underbody wash on the car,
but would need to be careful where I directed Karcher 4ft lance, wheel arches easy though.

I know its a kiddie product but I have never found anything like this in the automotive world:

It folds out to almost 2 meters, it is super cushy, water proof, and folds up to next to-nothing for storage.

Finally got round to replacing my Pound-shop headlight bulbs in the Coupe with some nice Philips Racing Vision ones. What a difference!
Unfortunately the plastic that covers the headlight cables has basically turned into dust. Amazed my lights worked at all. Few wraps of electrical tape sorted it (will need to do it better later but it was wet and cold).
The joys of running a 19 year old car :)

Bought a new bigger battery for my Citroen C1 run-about as the tiny "202" sized OEM battery finally bit the dust after a few cold snaps and wouldn't hold charge for more than a day (cells failing I guess).

So I popped into Halfords for a Yuasa battery and, as the battery tray is way bigger than the 202 battery (to cope with the larger "063" battery which is fitted to the larger engined C1's), I decided to fit a "063" battery to mine, as many other owners have done.

This was mainly because the 202 size is more expensive despite having a far lower Amp/Hour rating (52Ah for the 063 vs 32Ah for the 202), plus you get a 5 year warranty which is always nice.

Over the last 2 days on the celsior.. :

2/4 o2 sensors changed
Oil change
Cabin filter
Oil filter
Intake filter
Front lip fixed/reattached
Front air bags adjusted a little so the car sits higher.

New passenger side wiper arm, the spring broke off the original last week due to rust which meant that the wiper blade no longer made contact with the windscreen, so I ordered a new wiper arm from BMW. Also, new BMW Evo wiper blades and new ARB links. Pretended I didn't see some other rust in an area that won't cause an issue on the MOT on Friday, but it makes me die inside a little all the same.

So I popped into Halfords for a Yuasa battery
I'm surprised they are competitive, or you used their price matching option (like those of some of tyre fitters, too)
after cold-snap sister currently has battery problems, too far away to fit it for her, but had forgotten about price match.

Officially put it up for sale, worried I may come to regret it if it sells...

Sorry, huge photo apparently :D

So many potholes. Traffic had to stop for one on my side road to take it at walking pace. Worked out I can just about squeeze a wheel between the hole and the hedge. I think I’ll hold off changing my tyres until the winter is done!

Checked for any damage/signs of forced entry to my car.

Why you might ask?

Roughly 2:30am my daughter woke us for a bottle, as me and my partner started to drift back off we heard noises coming from downstairs so she checked the Ring Doorbell which is where it got interesting!

1) BMW slowly driven up our road at 2:17am

2) 02:51am - 1 male stood across from our house

She mentioned there is someone outside of our house, which is where my heart sank and I thought it really is happening.. I looked out front and as he clocked eyes on me he ran back towards my property... 4 men on the latter stages of destroying our PVC door locks to gain access, no doubt for the car keys? (Which are upstairs with me) I dread to think what would have happened if our daughter didn't wake us.

Time to step up the security... Not a nice experience at all.

Shotgun, rocket launcher.....that should do it.

I remember looking out the window in the early hours once, and it had snowed and could see foot steps going to every house and car, in one trail. Obvs looking for some easy stealing.

For me and my car, looking over 4x brand new alloys direct from Skoda. 3 out of 4 damaged....doh.
Quality standards are shocking, not what I expected.

Tell them if you catch them again you'll kill them. The police tend to show up then.

They arrived rather quickly actually - Perhaps 10 minutes or so… Although we did initially think they had managed to access the house.

Police confirmed what we already knew but as we spoke to them I noticed a car almost out of sight spin around coming back on themselves avoiding us leaving our estate at speed which was clearly the scumbags, police went to chase but were unsuccessful.

Forensics came in the morning and found nothing but took some of the broken handles and locking mechanisms as evidence, according to them they were about 30 seconds from getting in so after the look out saw me explains why they upped there game trying to access frantically.

Loads of footage from everyone around the estate showing them tooled up walking as a 4 with the car slowly crawling.

They apparently returned and tried another house the same night, police received multiple calls. If only they had the resources to block off the 3 exits!

Myself and partner are unsettled due to the fact they appear to be getting away with it, returning and the fact they got so close with us makes us wonder if they would try it again? Rolling around in a stolen BMW 420i which was stolen last night.
