What have you done to your car today?

The good:

Much to the delight of some, the phone/gopro mount from the dash has been deleted resulting in an ASMR clip of sorts :p

The bad:
Someone at some point in the past week has dinged my rear wing! Luckily it's not taken any paint and an easy repair for a dent guy from inside the boot:

Gave it a much overdue wash - With the roads being constantly damp and full of salt I simply haven’t bothed cleaning it for it to be just as bad after one trip.

It’s probably the filthiest my car has ever been.

Pre Wash
Autobrite Citrus Pre Wash
Autobrite Magifoam

Contact Wash
Autobrite Purple Velet Shampoo

Wheels
Autobrite Purple Rain
Autobrite Britegel
Autoglym High Performance Tyre Gel

Came up looking like a new car! Oh and I have started to really like AB products, especially as I only ever buy them when heavily discounted in 5L Form :D

Would love to do this to mine as I have the ash along the dash itself but the centre console is gloss black. Scratches like hell, and is dangerously reflective.
Guessing you've an e class? Should be even easier as it's much smaller and no heating vents (the hardest thing to change over), think the wiring is even easier as there's less connections. It's just a case of finding the right replacement panel...... apparently only the coupe came with the wood console?

Yeah the latter being the big issue. Quick searches will net you lots of faux carbon ones that are just nuts money.

Yep, there are some on the bay but ones from breakers always seem to have some damage from being removed with a hammer!
There are a couple there just now - £650 brand new, or £250 with a damaged tab. Tempted, but not that tempted! Especially as I'll probably break more clips on the way out/in :D

Renewed my car tax. Even though it’s zero tax, still get a V11 letter.

Think it’s to keep DVLA knowing the ownership of these vehicles. Plus if the govt decides to charge car tax to these cars, the framework is there.

I thought it just ensured you had it insured and if you didnt you would have to SORN it?

2 months after submitting a claim to my insurance for some front end damage and I finally get a message from the garage they've found saying they've authorised them to do the work...but the front grille is on backorder with no ETA :( ideally wanted this out of the way before the new baby arrives in the next month or so :o

My E class saloon came with a black ash center console, I think it was an option https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/show-us-your-motors.53188/post-34177879

Forgot I was meant to quote this ages ago! But can you not make the BG plain balck like on Android Auto? That would suit the surrounding dash so much better!
There are a few backgrounds to choose from but not sure there's a total black one. They all seem to be gradients I think.

Edit: looks like there is:

Got the quote from the garage...To do the suspension work refresh on all 4 corners, labour, VAT and MOT, £1973 ! Not including 4 new tyres.

I am going to do the stuff like the CV boot and tires now i think to pass the MOT for next month and 4 tyres which will be about £800 all in and think about whether i want to drop like £1500 into the car or trade it for something else...I really like the car too!

Logic tells me just save up and get it done, as it runs perfectly and the work is just wear and tear items but it's a hard pill to swallow.

Looking at the car market, what you have plus some maintenance is probably the better option unless you need to change due to circumstance. Better the devil you know and all that.
