What have you done to your car today?

Not today, but Tuesday I drove it to have it's running in service, so now I just need better weather to make an appearance so I can actually do some miles when it's not freezing/raining/miserable.

Removed all the sealant in doors, rear light, windscreen, rearscreen and reapplied some fresh new sealant. 80% of water leaks have been eliminated, now the window has come undone from the regulator clamps so that's a job for tomorrow. Joys of owning a 500 S... box. :D

I'm concerned you had enough leaks to have 20% left be measurable :D

Mine just leaks through the corner of both windows... Hopefully the welder is good to his word and is keeping it indoors over winter.

Electric car arrived a few weeks back so time for the wife's family wagon to be sold. I do hate selling. Anyways, a wee wash in freezing temps and fired on various sites. Its been a pretty solid car to be fair. Good space, reliable, quick, two isofix :) Not great on the fuel mind. Kept iy longer than most, about 3.5 years.

My wife told me she cleaned it out, suuuuuuuuuuuuure, 3 bags of guff later and it was really empty.

Washing in this weather aint so great

All those little creases and cracks from old age along with old rubber seals would probs add up to those 20%. I have eliminated the leaks which after a week of rain would most likely cause puddles in the car, so yep, big improvement! :D I don't have to scrape the windows from the inside now. :D

So I pulled the R8 to pieces. :D

Seems somewhat over complicated compared to when I pulled the GT3 apart, literally feels like I've undone 1000 bolts/screws. :D

Did have to take the grinder to a couple which seized or snapped, but not an issue as got spares, as to why its in bits, fitted solid shifter mounts on the shifter cables and I am fitting a much fruitier exhauust. Decided to do it myself as specialist quote as a 10-14hr job and as such the labour to fit was around £1000, so thought its better in pocket and I tool wise Audi use pretty muuch T30/25 fasteners all over so not that many actual tools, I did buy new Vband clamps, glad I did as the old ones had to beat off and as such were destroyed in the process.

I will get it all put back together over weekend and maybe make a video of how it sounds. :)

Who can spot the Lamborghini logo on the R8? :D

I hope you mean a 60's 500 otherwise that is absolutely ridiculous. :p

Good lord, forgot I started this thread over 10 years ago… :p
Today I started rebuilding the 1.8T Kavachi engine I’m preparing to insert into my ropey Rover 45 for a bit of ‘sleeper’ fun.
Also mentally preparing myself for the arduous task of changing the glow plug controller on my ancient E61 BMW 530d, she’s a wee bit lumpy when cold (but at 200k it can be excused)

Thread pls, not seen a lot of info on the K series successors :)

Gave the focus a wash at the jet wash, it's been neglected recently. Sitting low at front corner I noticed , I may have a snapped spring need to get under it and have a neb.

Finally put the brakes back on the Alto Works.

Refurbed calipers, new disks (from Japan), new pads (EBC Greenstuff pads for the rear of a Renault 5 :p), new hoses (MK3 Focus)

Have to get creative!

Also fitted Suzukisport shocks and springs, not sure if I mentioned that here or not.

That's the pen out of a biro isn't it?

I should know, my Smart had them!

Yesterday picked the car up from the garage after a new alternator was fitted.
Had to have the front end of the car removed and aircon drained to get to it, hopeless design, 2004 Mk1 Audi TT, V6, 3.2.

Back to garage today for quick change of near side rear parking bulb, forgot to get it done when the car was in for the alternator.

Just about everything on a Mk1 TT is a horrible job lol. I despise working on them.

Recently bought new wheels for the STI - had custom centre caps made (£20 ebay), and now just had new Good Year F1 Assymetric 6 fitted. I'm a long term fan of Michelin and formerly the PS range were far superior to the equivalent//contemporary Good Year F1s. Initial impressions are that these Assy 6 are now on a par with their Michelin competitors.
