What have you done to your car today?

Look at the folded edge where the stitching is, that's where the jumper elbow rubs constantly and has rubbed away the black factory dye. It;s a proper colourant with integrated self-sealant, also flexible and they say hard-wearing so will see if that is the case as time goes on. For a tenner it was worth trying and I've used Furniture Clinic dyes before (though in airbrush form) - They seem to be the experts on leather colouring and finishing.

My little Suzuki Carry Turbo got its MOT but broke down on the way back (my mate/mechanic).

Couldnt rev, but he managed to limp it back to his place. Think it might be battery/alternator and he has ordered a new belt. Hoping, fingers crossed, that its not something terminal. Although, that starts raising questions about what engine might then go in :) I heard the Suzuki Swift GTi lump is a straight bolt-on, but that was in the Alto, not sure if the little pickup will work, but hey, we might need to find out.

My neighbour is having a grand time with the STi A-line I sold him. I'm loving the i8, cant deny it, but I feel that the Subaru is more "me". To the Japanese auctions once again!!

Had a new windscreen fitted by autoglass, now I have no automatic wipers, matrix lights etc.. on the plus side I no longer get audi pre-sense telling me I'm about to hit something all the time!

Audi can look at the issue on the 18th of december and autoglass claim they can't do anything till audi look at it. Fun.

What would you do? I find myself wanting to pickup the phone - "Good afternoon Helphire...."

Sounds like autoglass dislodged / brocken something

Autoglass should have sorted all that themselves

Your windscreen calibration appointment

If your car is fitted with driver assist technology, it may require a recalibration following a windscreen replacement. But don't worry, we'll let you know when you book with us. One of our fully-trained technicians will then perform the calibration during your appointment.

At Autoglass®, we are the windscreen calibration specialists, with the expert knowledge and tools to complete a calibration to the manufacturer's required standard.

Presumably they have attempted this and failed? Even so, I would expect them to arrange sorting it out with Audi to be honest, if they can't make it work, rather than tell you to sort it out yourself. Audi will no doubt tell you something is wrong with the screen or they've damaged the ADAS cameras/sensors and the bill to fix it will be £LOL and you'll spend the next 6 months being bounced from one to the other while they constantly deny responsibility.

Yeah they tried for hours to fix it, the guy claimed it was something I'd done, something about coding my rear lights and lane departure settings - none of which I've done. The car was in Audi two weeks ago for a service and they updated the software as part of the service but there is nothing in that process which affected any of the various radar or convenience features.

I've opened a warranty/guarantee claim with autoglass but not heard anything yet. It's bloody annoying as my car bings and bongs as I drive it and beeps very loudly when you first turn it on, warning that audi pre-sense isn't working.

As you say it's very definitely an autoglass issue, but if they bat it back to audi that leaves me driving a car with christmas tree for a dashboard.

All very irksome

Could be worse, last time I let Autoglass near a car to repair a chip, they cracked the screen right across the drivers view and then announced they couldn't source a replacement screen for 4 months. Luckily that was a company car that was being returned imminently, so no idea how long it actually took them to sort it out in the end :p

Yikes, well I intend to source a replacement car if this isn't resolved within the week, I'm a patient person but the inconvenience caused by the constant dings and bongs is definitely measurable, I must also admit I've grown accustomed to adaptive lights and driving home last night without them was painful. Yeah first world problems and all that, but I feel aggrieved!

I wish I hadn't bothered now, it was cracked, but it wasn't getting any worse and given the time of year picking up more stone chips etc.. was very likely. I only did it as a recommendation from audi after the aforementioned service....

Installed a new wheel myself from Royal Steering Wheels, added a dry carbon insert and gear knob for added love...

Not done anything yet per say, but need to have an investigative look under the car at some point, im getting some vibrations at idle, I dont thinks anything related to the engine or the idle rpms, but seems like maybe there is a problem with either an exhaust mount somewhere or the anti-vibration thing for the exhaust, as its giving me a sort of metalic rattling sound and its got quite a bit of movement.

Spent some time restoring original sound system in bmw before sale ...
any recommendations on a good set of strong pry tools ?

eg.

I currently often use wooden spatulas and wooden pegs, to dig without making marks,
removing phone holder that had been stuck with genuine VHB tape on windscreen was particularly challenging , wondered if screen was going to delaminate.

It will likely be your exhaust flexi pipe common fault of the diesels where it starts to rattle at idle it will get worse overtime and start doing it at higher revs.

BMW sell it separately, on the F models you need to remove the DPF to weld it on I think it’s the same on the E models.

Filled up the screenwash on my Civic for the first time since buying it in April. Because it has headlight washers it's nearly 6 litres so a few trips with the kettle were required! :D This also meant I used the last of the concentrate fluid I bought maybe 5 years ago!

Just bought another bottle when I finished work. It did give me a thought, do others pay great attention to what they put in the washer bottle? Especially this time of year now it's getting colder. Do you just go the cheapest route or do you have a preference?

Fitted some leather seats in the GTO, not sure if im totally sold on them tbh, whilst they look better, the more resistance nature of the cloth has a reassuring feel to them, and warmer in these colder months.
I think i will be holding on to the old ones for a few months before junking them.

As much as I like the look of leather, I've become a convert to half leather, half Alcantara - more comfortable in both the cold and summer heat and still look good.

This time of year I'm usually 50/50 mix of Bluecol concentrate, annoyingly last year the dealer topped off the screenwash just before some freezing weather and whatever they used wasn't very good - it froze to the windscreen almost immediately...

Wherever Aldi sell as their winter screen wash pre mix. Seems to do to job at £2ish for 5l.

Just bought new tyres all round for mine and the wife's cars, hers are nearly dead so needed doing went for some Goodyear vectors.
Mine have loads of life left and it's going to pain me getting rid of a set of sport contact 5s with 5.5mm left but wanted to switch to all seasons as we do get the odd bad weather this way and my commute is 50 miles each way so ordered some cross climate 2s.

Just over £900 all together :o, could be worse I suppose considering that's one car's worth to you beemer owners :D
