What have you done to your car today?

Why get rid, it’s only an advisory for corrosion.
I’ve never seen any of those older type trucks that aren’t corroded, but year after year they go through the MOT.

D40 Navara - it is mostly the original coating degrading and some surface corrosion but if not treated the metal will almost certainly start weakening a lot quicker than normal - it is from the last batch built so hopefully less likely to be affected by the snapping issue though.

Stuck a new battery in my Spider, original was dated 2016 so although it seems to work ok, I don't really trust it.

Drove my wife's aging Micra today... good ******* god. Slipping clutch, badly aligned steering wheel, the slightest feeling of play in the steering rack  I'm almost tempted to just pay a lease on a Leaf/Corsa-e/BYD Dolphin just to get her out of the car.

Checked and topped up the oil on the R56.
Noticed that the wheel arch trim had come loose by the sill. Not sure how, as plastic clip was still in the wing, and the arch trim has to lift up about 2cm for the clip to come out of it

Either way fixed it after 15 minutes due to it being so cold outside I couldn't actually squeeze the tabs on the clip to remove it.

Transplanted a fiesta key fob in to a new case, thought this would be a simple job but no, section of the fob with the key blade and transponder was glued and had to be forced open, then transponder chip was also firmly glued in to the case ended up using my power file to get the chip out, not an easy or fun job.

Replaced a coil pack on the Golf - misfire and engine light came on over the weekend. Simple swap - cheap one from ECP for now, will order a full OEM set in January. Reset the engine light, fault code confirmed that I'd switched the correct one. Sorted!

Car passed the MOT with only one advisory, worn tyre close to legal limit. Not bad going for a 16 year old car at all! It might be time to start thinking about a replacement (EV) now I could sell it with a long MOT.

Took the console apart to bodge the gear selector lock solenoid into its retracted position through the use of gaffer tape so I could drive the car home after it failed on the driveway of a friends house.

I had to do this at the weekend - was putting it off as the key had been absolutely buried in superglue by the previous owner. But the battery was dire and I've not managed to program the right replacement fob yet.

Similar story that the blade was a glued/integrated one Vs the spare fob, luckily I had the blade cut for the new fob already. So just switched the electronics after some chisel and knife antics.
