What have you done to your car today?

Oooh harsh... but fair :D

Found a way of locking the crank without wrecking my starter ring gear anyway. :D

Well, I spent today rolling around on the drive trying to fix a few niggles I've had with the ZT-T.

First of all, a nice shiny new exhaust as the original had gone at the backbox, middle and flexi. No way that was going to be saved!
Old one on the way out:

Next, the lower engine mount. I'm sure you'll agree it was time to change (and this is probably what killed the flexi):

Aaaaaand finally, a full service with brake fluid change. Oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter, PCV filter, clutch fluid change and pollen filter all done.

It's still a bit of a shed, but drives lovely now and is actually a decent volume rather than sounding like a Chieftain tank.

Went to replace wheel bearing, found the play was actually from the coilover bottom collar coming loose. Tightened, put back together. Winning, wish I hadn't spent money on parts now though.

Thinking today that my Alfa JTS has been remapped at some point.

I've put Esso super in for the last 2 tanks/weeks (There's been no 95ron where I am filling up near my current place of work) and it's noticeably quicker, even more so now the weather has cooled a bit.

No messing around there :D

My work, slightly less complex....double din stereo fit. Did a test fit with it a couple of weeks ago, but I needed to buy some posilock connectors to finish it, as theres not an 'off the shelf' wiring harness adaptor that does the trick. I also used some felt tape in certain places to ensure there are no rattles.

Happy with this install - the facia is a very good fit indeed, and the install keeps the Bose 'active' amps and steering wheel buttons so it integrates nicely. This head has also also got a small 'face off' panel for added security, unusual for most double din units.

Took the Clio to a garage for replacement tie rods. Left in a cruddy loaner Golf as they discovered they had the wrong new parts after they had already cut off the old ones :eek::mad:

Looks good, what make fascia did you purchase? I need one for my Fiesta ST but don't want a rubbish cheap fitting piece of brittle tat.

Good luck with that, I had a double unit in my Fiesta ST, I tried both the Autoleads and Connects2 facias and neither fitted well :(. I ended up gluing the Connects2 facia into my centre console, after sanding it to improve the fit.

The facia I've used for the MX5 is an Autoleads one, part number is FP-26-05. A bit of research led me to discover there were a few options.

Autoleads
Connects2
Metra
Scosche
Mazda OEM double din facia

I originally was drawn to the Mazda facia as I presumed it'd be the best fit, but the aperture for the radio is a bit too wide, and it uses the ugly square bezel that most double din head units fit with, and still leaves a wider gap than one would want at either side of the unit. It actually looked pretty poor, clearly 'non standard', disappointing really, it costs £90 too.

Research on US forums led me to learn that the Metra facia was actually the best looking and still a very good fit, but that it's repackaged and sold in Europe by both Autoleads and Connects2 (all three products are actually the same despite different part numbers and packaging). The Autoleads one was cheaper too....so obviously I didn't bother with Connects2. The Scosche one is apparently a crap fit and not available in the UK, so I didn't even consider that one.

Ouch. Not used a specialist? When doing the full suspension refresh on mine they had to cut loads of the old stuff off as it was all seized.

My respray is almost done, looking good now! They had some problems getting the trunk lid flat, possibly as the sheet is quite thin, so I may need a new one, but ill check once its painted and on.

The front bumper is sticking up a little by the left headlight, the shop says I need a new one as the bracket is broken, but ill get them to have another go.

Yes that workshop is a mess, I bet you guys would run a mile from a place like this in the UK
:D
