What have you done to your car today?

After spending last weekend sorting my new car out my wife's car looked rather neglected.

Today I cleaned, polished and gave it two coats of Collinite 476s, bits could have done with a clay but it looks 100x better now and should stay that way for at least a couple of hours until she gets her hands on it....

Touching up the E34 a little more each week - replacing the mouldings and trim etc to tart her up a bit.

I've found that I am actually missing the large rear cover behind the right headlamp, left side has it but the right looks to be long gone - strange how I never noticed something like that before!

Anyway, I'm not sure what the item would be called in order to find & buy a replacement, my google skills are poor - headlamp cover/shield/cowling?

I've got a picture from elsewhere of the missing part in question:

Thanks :)

Took mine into BMW today for them to look at the autobox issue, the seatbelt assist and also asked them to look at the iDrive system as I've had a couple of random reboots recently and then it started showing disc read errors yesterday.

They called at 4pm to say that two technicians had taken a look at the gearbox issue and as far as they're concerned it's behaving as normal. I told them I wasn't happy with that answer and requested they reset the adaptations, which cost me 30 mins labour but it certainly seems to have helped; the car isn't changing gear so randomly..it still isn't as smooth as my 330 was, but it's a lot better.

The iDrive they say is on its way out, but they're being arses and have sent diagnostics info off to the warranty company to find out if the issue existed before I bought the car or not. In other words it looks like they're trying to find a way out of paying up.

If they approve the claim, I pay my £100 excess, it gets replaced and I'll then get the seatbelt assist repaired under the same claim. If they reject it then I have to pay and hours labour for diagnostics and I'll fix the seatbelt assist myself as the part is only like £40.

Once again I've come away less that happy with my so-called "best in the business" BMW warranty.

Which is odd, as your ire should be directed at the dealer. It sounds like they've not submitted anything to BMW Warranty, so how can it be the warranty's fault?! It's bizarre behaviour as surely it is in their interest to get the claim approved as they get the work.

To me the fact you are already having issues with the car is a nod in the direction of makng sure you are covered.

If the dealer had no intention of contacting BMW warranty then I'd have expected them to tell me the claim had been rejected when I collected the car.

From what the dealer was saying it's BMW Warranty who have requested the diagnostic info; I reckon they're being difficult because I only took the policy out 7 weeks ago and it's only been 3 weeks since I've been able to make a claim.

I've got no intention of cancelling the warranty due to the cost of some of the potential repair bills, but I'm just a bit frustrated that out of 3 warranty claims to date, only 1 has actually been successful and was only for £200.

Washed it for the second time in a week.

Why did I buy a yellow car? :(

To wash it as you have no friends to go out with :D

I was it every 2-3 weeks in the winter. A white car with white wheels will get dirty without even moving during these winter months, so what's the point? ;)

Replace the panel moulding on the nearside front door. Pain in the backside to remove the clips, which resulted in one snapping and half of it falling inside the door. Now it is rattling :(

Any idea on how to remove it?

Took it fox hunting.

I just gave mine a much needed wash, I used a new product, UKRoadsGrittingSludgeAndStuff I think you will agree it looks almost new

Sorry I didn't take any before shots :(

Aka winter mode!

I jetwashed my A3 yesturday as it looked like will's picture but obviously an Audi instead and instead of dark dirt it was brown... obviously I didn't do it too well as the car doesn't look any different when it dried (why do manual washers suck!?)
Going to through it through the local drive through car wash today, which actually does a brilliant job (St Blazey petrol station)
