What have you done to your car today?

Switched to alcantara gear and handbrake gaters, seems quite nice quality and relatively cheap to give a different look. Will stick with it for a few sunny days to see how it looks under sunlight but so far so good.

Booked it into BMW for next week. The driver's side seatbelt assist is no longer picking up the belt, and the gearbox has a jerky gear change.

Didn't really notice the gear change issue in the first few weeks of ownership, but now that we've moved offices and I get stuck in stop-start traffic a lot more it's really noticeable. It holds on to gears a little bit too long, and also downshifts can be quite violent; I've had it where it's felt like somebody has rear-ended the car. It's nothing like as smooth as the 330 was that's for sure.

It's probably just the adaptations need resetting, but I can't get my ODB cable to connect to the car to do it myself so will have to bend over and let the dealer do it.

Genuine alcantara or fake look a like stuff? If it's real it'll look brilliant.

Not actually sure, it was sort of an impulse buy after seeing a friend's car with them on and really liking the look and feel. This feels like his and has the same thickness, the seller didn't say it was faux or genuine though, just that it was Alcantara. I'll give it a bit. Still got the thick Italian leather gaters stored away so can always reinstall those if it doesn't work out.

I think if you had the alcantara seats it would look pretty good but personally I don't like it against the leather seats and carbon trim but that's just my opinion :)

Not too sure on the gaiters but your pic reminds me that I need to sort out the mess that is my handbrake surround to finish off my interior

PS....32c!!!

Looks good, mrk. Where were they from?

Hmm I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks in the daytime, if it looks good then I have no problems keeping them on!

Any Alcantara seats going anywhere? ... :p

edit*
They were from an auto seller on ebay^

I quite like the gaiter. Can't help but notice the 32C though, y u no use climate properly?!
Door is open, freezing my butt off so blowing hot air to keep warm while fitting it and taking the pic :)

Replaced the following on the wife's car.. Oil, filter, air filter, pollen filter, plugs and fitted her winter tyres.

Managed to catch my finger in the Jack whilst lifting up the car. Instant blood blister :p

Wired in the heated rear screen after managing to locate a switched live to tap into. Also tidied up the wiring in the boot. Replacing the driver's window regulator tomorrow along with soundproofing the doors, hopefully. Might need the heat gun if the temperature stays this low...

Ive been outside messing around with my satnav system, you realise that it would have done the same (blow out hot air) had it been set to 18C like mine is :p That's the point of climate control

Put some "winter wheels" on - but not winter tyres. These are to savour my 16" wheels as they're near on immaculate and I don't want to accidentally introduce them to a kerb.

These 15's look tiny but the car is loads comfier on them!

Fixed my driver-side all weather mat. Really happy with the results, was afraid it would look ghetto.

The manufacturer made that section particularly thin and a huge hole had developed from my heel strike point. I took a rather thick flat section from an old rear seat all weather matt and cut it to the shape of the existing flat panel and used contact cement to stick them together.

A previous attempt using Loctite hadn't worked but contact cement worked perfectly.

Are you trying to teach me how to suck eggs? :p

I know exactly how it works. I wanted a few minutes of intense heat. Sometimes it's what feels good.

Sorry i wasnt meaning to be rude at all! I just meant that it should do the same thing regardless of the set temp as long as the car needs warming up.

I did the same thing when messing with my nav system, i whacked it to full power as auto never does that, but even set at 18 it was belting out full heat due to the car being at about 3-4 :)

I figured that’s what you meant anyway :D
Yeah I’ve done that before too but sometimes it’s just nice to manually whack it up for that short and instant comfort!

This missed me by about 10 feet as it came down about an hour ago, probably wouldn't have been good in a soft top car

Its bad here aswell. Signs, bins, empty skips being blown all over road and been told a lorry has been blown over near town centre.

We have have trampoline smash fence panel and full bin emptied all over are couli-de-sac. GF's sisters trampoline and gone into a neighbours greenhouse who live 5 doors down. The joys, glad i am not at work today.

Fitted my LED interior lights at lunchtime today. Will get some pics up probably tomorrow now as it's raining outside, but it's improved the look and general brightness in the interior massively. £45 well spent :)
