What have you done to your car today?

Changed my faulty Haldex controller unit to a known good one and all issues are sorted = very happy me.. Decided I was on a roll and didn't feel the cold so also changed my old turbo intake pipe to my new 3 inch one, also removed the air box and now I've got a mahoosive jetex cone. Lastly changed the recirc value to a forge 008p, quite a good bit of work!

Now I just need to sort out that damn sticky thermostat.

What's the car?

Replaced a few of the vac lines of my GTO in the hope of finding the root cause of a flat spot that's so bad under hard acceleration its big enough to give you a close up view of the windscreen! scared the lights out of me the first time i encountered it!

Tomorrows job is give it a bloody good clean and replace the turbo's heat shielding.

Sorted the noise and high volume on the new head unit with yet another interface cable.... Quite a few boxes and adapters needed, the installation parts cost nearly the same as the HU itself now!

Effectively it's a load of ground loop isolators with adjustable gain - no more hissing and it can actually be quiet now :)

Jumped on the bandwagon and did the pollen filter too - looking at it, I don't think it's ever been done - goes to show a full main dealer history doesn't guarantee everything has been done properly!

Finally got it sorted then :)

Yesterday I had my alignment checked and corrected. Steering wheel is straight and I have the peace of mind that it's all in spec now :)

I also jumped on the pollen filter bandwagon and looked at it, decided it's a bit dirty and that I should order a replacement. That however was last Saturday. I have still yet to get a replacement. There are not one but two Eurocarparts branches just down the road, too. I'm so lazy sometimes.

has your engine got a maf? These can give you kangaroo acceleration sometimes.

Yep, it's just been laziness on my part - it wasn't doing any harm and the noise wasn't too noticeable when you're moving. Incartec are based in Exeter but tend to be closed by the time I'm back in town after work.... It's also horrendously difficult to get to everything apart to get behind the HU.

Debating adding a sub now - it's a nice sounding system but lacks some punch. Wondering whether a small active sub would be worth it, maybe even one of those compact under seat things

I was actually quoting the guy who IIRC had a right faff getting his new Honda key sorted :D But that's good! *Definitely* add a sub, it adds some much-needed depth when you're moving and road noise is playing a part. There's only so much a modest-sized speaker in an enclosure as limited as a door can do!

Awwww shame, a five foot sub would be awesome.

I don't want anything chavvy, just a bit....more. That mystery box is really tempting, what's the worst that could happen?
