What have you done to your car today?

What's the point in helper springs when they are permanently coil bound?

They are on the verge of not being under load, few more winds down and they have gaps. As I said, I'm waiting for it to settle and see about lower which means they won't be as tight as that anyway.Plus, the pics are before I wound them down a bit anyway, without them the main coils would be rattling about at the height of the adjuster ring thing.

Washed it :p

Got a strange noise from the front drivers wheel. When I turn slightly, it squeaks. Not all the time, more like "squeak squeak squeak" and it increases with speed. Brakes are fine. What could it be? Bearings?

Spent most of the day prepping paint on my front splitter, nearly done but a few spots where it will need flatting back and another coat. Will post pics once on the car :)

Had a similar sound when a bearing went for me. Can you feel any vibrations when you turn left and put the weight over that wheel?

I haven't noticed anything really, but tomorrow I have a sharp left hand bend for the motorway so I shall have a listen and a firm feel so to speak. Thanks :)

Well it was yesterday. But i changed the Wishbones for a set with Black Powerflex bushes.
These were made by a chap to use on his rally clio and were his spare set. Came all the way from Bulgaria!

Just spent a hard day with mate over the road changing his front springs and damper unit's on 20 odd year old Mondeo.

First thing the jack went though the sill - then the big bolt that holds damper unit to hub sheered off - That was first hour.

The next 5 hrs were spent drilling out old bolt with 13,000 blunt drill bit's - If mine go it's going to garage.

In process we found it needed new boots on drive shafts as well

I said don't call me I will call you :rolleyes:

Have you ever heard it rattle, knock or make some other such strange noise?

Not yet, although the oil did turn to water like thickness after track day, so it certainly overheated.

Going to drop the oil in a month and find somewhere that does oil analysis, any ideas where?

recieved CP forged pistons and forged rods, gapped the rings, assembled and they're in the block, just waiting for a replacement oil pump after having the wrong one sent, then i can build the rest..

Normal for oil to drain out like water, especially if engine hot.
Car sounds new, wouldn't bother if it's under warranty, just keep quiet about the track days lol
