What have you done to your car today?

Huzzah - replaced the down pipe on the Corrado this afternoon. It was one of those jobs that would either go incredibly easily or be an utter swine. In this case it was really easy. No seized bolts - access wasn't wasn't too bad. All in all a good day!

I must say whilst the car sounded awesomesauce with essentially no exhaust, and epic on the over-run, I'm glad my eyeballs are no longer vibrating lol

Changed the gearbox oil again. Since changing it out just before the dyno day for Millers oil it was extremely difficult to go in 1st 2nd and 3rd when cold. Pretty much had to double clutch it for the first 10 miles of every journey, rubbish. Gone back to the halfords brand that I was using before, exact same Grade 80w90 GL4, shifting is spot on again.

You made 125lb/ft of torque from a fuel pump? that must have been running seriously lean before!

Knock correction probably yanking all the ignition timing out of the poor thing.
running a car lean will generally make you MORE power (up to the point it melts of course) :D

No, better fuel pump replacement was recommended before the remap. Up till then it was just stock, original 06 pump

Picked the car up from the body shop, bonnet re-sprayed, wing mirrors colour coded, wheels/grilles re-coloured and a fresh set of stripes.

Dashcam now installed:

The lens on this is wide enough to get the entire front end in view as well as the front wings of whatever car is edging ahead either side. I have routed the cable via the passenger side so I can stow it away in the glovebox when not in use and is within easy reach.

Looking forward to recording some total driving fail now. Just yesterday a man decided that the very moment I was going round a roundabout would be a great time to make his exit in front of me. Not even beeping my horn (something I usually never do) made him actually look to his right...

Jesus Robbie,

Buy a fuse tap like this

and a female ciggy like this

You've literally gone right past the fusebox on the E46 to do that!

Get it covered and forget about it from then on. Just go into a fuse that is off when the car is off.

Will that fit with the fusebox in its closed position though? There's not much room in there for things poking up (the fuse tap looks quite tall!).

Interesting ta, I can then route an out of sight power switch for that circuit only so no need to pull the secondary fuse when car is off etc.

Had a ball ache with my car past 2 days. Bought a new condenser to replace a very leaky one. Very simple job, should take 20 minutes.

Well the condenser bolts into the rad.. bolts seized, cracked rad open, balls! So had to buy a new rad as well this morning. Nothing seemed to want to go smoothly but got it all done. Gassed the aircon up, leak from the join to the condenser, argh! Gas back out, joint off, new seal, gassed up again thankfully was ok. Now have working aircon again which is damn nice.

I think I need a new pollen filter though, no wonder there was a distinct lack of airflow :o

Changed the black plastic side skirts

For some colour coded skirts...

Also changed some of the interior and exterior bulbs for nice white LEDs

It's the 0805, right? Surely it simply comes off the mount and into your glove box, no matter where you set it up?

See, I need someone that knows and can do all this malarky, then I'd get a DashCam too.

Started cleaning the thing before I get under it and go over it for a coast to coast challenge I'm doing in a few weeks.
Lots to do.

First job after I've finished washing the **** off it is to fit a new rear bumper after I smashed the old one on a rock last weekend. :o

Just use a fuse that's ignition live only - is the cigarette lighter permanently live?

Hence why I'd tap in a discreet on/off switch so I could leave it recording if I stop off at the supermarket one day and come back to find a ding or whatever.

Fuse 3 on the E46 is empty and it is only on when ignition is on, it's a 5A slot though, but this is more than enough to power a dashcam so I could use the tap on that if I just want a set and forget affair.

Glovebox will have to come out though as I think the best ground wire is just behind it although there's lots of metal around that area anyway...

Replaced my manky suspension.

I think it's fairly close to how it was on the ruined dampers and awful lowering springs but I'll see how it settles over the next couple of days, might lower it a touch more if I feel like it.
