What have you done to your car today?

My Evo and MR2 Roadster cost me £950 last year. 6 points later (SP30 and CD30) and it's now £850. I think they just make up the cost.

MOT day.

Failed on the front console bushes and the track rod that didn't fail last year. Also got them to sort the oil leak from the sump plug. Helicoil FTW.

Wallet is now a little lighter!

Got mine MOT'd
Passed with no advisories! MOT guy said it was the cleanest 15 year old car he had seen! I had to keep telling him it's just a micra! :p

I couldn't figure out what it was at first! Thought it was possibly the back of a pickup cab or a flatbed cab!

I imagine its the bed of his old rusty Hilux, which will be 50% new sheet metal by the time he has finished restoring it. :p

I haven't done anything to it yet, but I am currently 15 miles away from the closest petrol station, and I have about 12 miles of range left in the tank.

So running out of petrol is on the cards. :p

e; whoops, I could have put that in one post.

It's s mk2 hilux rear bed which were made of emmental cheese and got mostly removed and replaced with mk3 beds which are double skinned and last 5 times as long.

A good mk2 bed can cost 2k so this one at 200 plus a bit of time and swearing should see it perfectly serviceable. The pieces hopefully are being replaced with ribbed bits that match so it shouldn't look like a load of flat sheet metal.

:)

Sold my Octavia VRS ready for the arrival of an Accord Type R.

Some pictures after the final clean before I sold it today.

Sad to see it go, it is in really good condition with low mileage. Mechanically in tip top condition and only a few minor cosmetic blemishes.

Buyer was really happy with it when he looked at it. Seems like he is going to look after it properly which is good.

The VTEC from the Type-R should make it up though

Did you get rid of it because you got tired of meticulously caring for your paintwork so that it doesn't fade? :p

Isn't the accord type R a step down/sideways? Was the old model iirc so guessing it's older than that octavia. The accord has a bit more power but the VRS could be mapped to be more powerful without much hassle. If you're happy though that's the important thing! I do like that yellow too :)

Looks like I probably need to get my timing chains, tensioners and guides replaced. Can get that done for £1200 which although a hefty bill isn't that bad considering the entire engine needs to come out of the car.

Oh well it needed a new clutch and DMF anyway. Guy said he'll fit those in for just the cost of parts since the engine will be out of the car anyway. Fun times :) Just need to get a second opinion on the noise being timing chain related before I commit to the work but I'm pretty confident it is.
