What have you done to your car today?

Hah! Feel my pain :p

That scratch looks pretty bad though will likely Polish out. What is troubling though is what appears to be a slight dent on the door above the sill?

Rear backbox taken off today, in order to check the insides of the entrance pipe. At present the backbox entry is a smaller pipe than the midpipe, the step as it goes from 2.5 inch to 2 3/8 is not ideal for good flow never mind the bodge with gaskets to get it to fit together. Rich @ Doritech is now happy to modify it for me now he's seen pics of the inside. I want to keep the exhaust as it sounds great but this way it will fit perfectly and not restrict the flow at all.

Also ordered new exhaust hangars (as the ones on there are starting to perish and split slightly with the force needed to get them off) and mazda appearance package side skirts, this will finish off the look of my car :).

I walking over to my car, which had a pidgeon stood on it, on the edge of the roof. It looked at me and I looked at it, and then it pooped on my car down the driver's door window whilst I watched. I bet it was saving it up until I walked over and everything :(

Lol

count yourself lucky you weren't facing a squadron, a few weeks ago some work colleagues asked if I had seen my car recently, my initial thoughts were it was a wind up so waited till lunch to have a look.

when I went out to see, I could not [and still can't] get my head around how many droppings were on my bonnet, cars either side not a spot on them but my bonnet had over 2 dozen patches none smaller than a £2 coin

Had a bad day today. Tried to change rear discs and pads the last couple days. Did my brothers motor first (insignia) and it was an absolute doddle. The alfa on the other hand. The pistons on the caliper just would not rewind in. I suspected one may be binding slightly but one was wedged solid and the other refused to go all the way back (about half a turn short). Mitos have a reputation for having seized rear calipers and it would appear I now have two of the buggers. Bus to work for me tomorrow and a big hefty bill :-(

I'd try boltng them back up to the carrier, lubricating the piston a bit (to help it come back out, little bit of brake fluid should do) and getting a rather large bar onto the winder. Push them back out and repeat a couple of times to see if it frees things up a bit

To be honest, we probably broke one of them by trying to rewind it the wrong way. One is clockwise the other anti on the mito where as the insignia was both clockwise (chock that one up to experience and not do it again). The other moved up to a point but not far enough to be flush and as such can't get it over the new pads and discs. Since then we've soaked it in stuff to try and lubricate it, cracked the bleed nipple and even got a tiny screwdriver under the rubber boot to get some silicone stuff up there and got a massive ole bar on it with me and my brother trying to lever it but was having nothing. unfortunately there's so little play on the brake pipes there's no way I could twist it to fix it to something to get more leverage.

Plus even if I did get it moving there's nothing saying it won't seize up again 2 weeks later and muller my new pads and discs. The old discs from one side looked like the below so something was definitely up (pads were free and greased up nicely so not them).

Unfortunately it's common on these things and forums are littered with people who have had to have callipers replaced. Typical alfa always something broken lol, next motor will be a new focus st I think but unfortunately I'm stuck with this until I've sorted a house deposit out etc. Growing up sucks!

Took the old girl in for her first MOT under my ownership. This also marks the end of my first year with the car and over 9000 miles in that time. She now has 143925 miles on the clock and is still going strong. No advisories either, very pleased. :)

Indeed it is. :)

I do love E30's. I'm just afraid of old BMW's because I don't want to discover that it is half made out of rust... I also don't really want to spend the time required to make sure it doesn't begin to rust. :p

Thanks, its my pride and joy. :P

You're right to be concerned about rust.. I've seen too many which are beyond saving. I was lucky to find this one. I almost feel bad for using it as a daily as its picked up a blemish or two in that time. However I'm proud to drive it and enjoy it unlike a lot of people who store them and watch the values rise.
Luckily with all the miles on mine I don't have to feel too guilty about continuing to rack them up! :)

I'm partial to the BMW 2002 but the E30 M3 is the most iconic shape in my eyes. Those box flares!
