What have you done to your car today?

Got the air-con re-gassed. It burst a pipe two years ago which I replaced about 2 months later.
Only just got round to re-gassing it.
Quite surprised it still works :)

Finally got it MOT'd - it failed the last one due to an electrical issue with the rear lights that's been bugging me for months.

I'd previously paid a so-called specialist £500, and they only succeeded in making the problem worse. The place I took it to this time are also Jag specialists, although the place is hidden down a residential road and most people have never heard of them.

£330 later and it's totally fixed and MOT'd. Wish I'd just taken it to them in the first place when the problem first appeared.

And now I've got it all sorted, I can concentrate on my MR2 replacement which I should be picking up today :D

^^ oo pics...
My work colleague owns a x type JAG, said he failed on his auto headlights, the MOT place had switched them on and reported that they turned off after LOL

Filled it up at the service station, I'll be lucky to get half that by the time I need to fill up again.

Car developed a slight misfire (I think) making it idle rough over the past few days. Today I found my spark plugs swimming in oil, new spark plg seals and rocker cover gasket is on the cards..
I got it all cleaned up and the oil out and its still idling rough though so not sure if that'll solve it. :(

You seem rather happy considering you've just told us that it cost you £830 to fix the rear lights.

What was wrong?

Don't even get me started on MOT centres and their general levels of ineptitude :p

Haven't bothered to take any pics yet, but it's a 1994 MR2 turbo with the usual mods you'd expect (uprated turbo, IC, boost controller, exhaust, dump valve etc etc). First impressions are it's very quick, very loud and very chavvy - basically the polar opposite of my Jag. Best thing about it was that I haven't paid a penny for it. Will do a thread with details etc in a few days.

It wasn't just an issue with the rear lights - they were the MOT failure point but it was a fairly complex issue that affected the windows, interior lighting and various other things as well. It was eventually resolved by replacing the rear fuse box, wiring loom and electronics control module.

That £830 is the only big bill I've had in my ownership, despite me putting 60k on an already fairly high mileage car, so overall I'm pretty happy. A few hours on the Jaguar forums will have you thinking you need a minimum of £5k per year to run cars like these, which simply isn't true.

Bit annoying that they charged £500 and didn't fix it. The automotive industry at its finest :(

Indeed :( Don't think I'm allowed to name and shame on these forums but if anyone in the south east has a Jag and would like to know what "specialist" not to take it to, give me a PM.

Hit fuel cut at full throttle, not fun! Its kinda weird as the car feels 20-30% more powerful for that brief moment then bam! head in windscreen!
Need to find the vac leak now....

Finished spray painting my heater control trim, it has been in plastic primer for months because I never got round to finishing it! :p

It is now silver, like my steering wheel spokes. :)

I also got overtaken by a Renault 5 earlier  I think it was a 1.7 GTX, but still, I wasn't expecting to be overtaken by a Renault 5! :(

Uprated/new transfer box?

If you get wet, I hope its rain and not oil. :p

Was it you who damaged the corner of the front bumper and ordered a new solid metal plate one? If so is that it fitted there? Looks good. Certainly looks like it won't be bothered by tree stumps and such! The bash plate looks good too... How thick did you say they were?

Yep new Ashcroft transferbox with a few upgrades :D and yes, it's been lashing down here the last day or so. :( I won't be filling with oil until I can "procure" some from work.
That is indeed the new steel bumper, 5mm mainly but 10mm at the winching points.
Bash plate is 5mm also. It's softened my Heavy duty springs up that's for sure, there is some weight on it now. :D

Bumper fits a treat.

Bet the postie had fun with that parcel! :p

What do you use it for if you don't mind me asking? Some kind of practical purpose? Or social offroading/mudplugging/greenlaning? :)

Vinyl wrapped some bits in silver to make the interior less depressing... :p

Mats are worn out though... They lasted about 15,000 miles... Cheap eBay mats are a false economy. :(
